My team and I decided to make the switch from Vexcode V5 to programming in python this year. We learned some of the basics from a programmer from another team, but we still need more training. Does anyone know of a website, or a good tutorial that can help us create our first program? Thanks
PS. We already have VSCode running and synced to github
Just look at a few of the examples projects in there and try to code something. I doesn’t matter what, I believe that with vs code you have to manually configure devices so maybe start with that. Vs code has a ton of examples projects so just read through them to get the general syntax. Let me know if there’s anything you don’t understand and I can try to help. (I use c++ so I might not be the best source )
I would suggest skipping python and go to C++. Go to learncpp.com and go thru the first 4-8 chapters. Take notes and just follow using the Visual Studio, in which pretty much all that is covered through the first 4-8 chapters are going to show up while coding your V5 robot, explicitly. Then use the remaining chapters as reference if you don’t know certain things that pop up over time.
Hi, so it is great that you are exploring. But the issue is that since you are going with Python, you would have to wait a longer time to receive the help you need and even so I don’t know if you really get the help you need. However, is C++, you would receive help much faster and there is a lot more resources outside of Vexforums. Considering you are still a beginner, make a switch to C++, it would help your team in the long run.
