Ehh, i personally think itās fine. Teams have had a couple of seasons to experiment with these, and the revival is worth the ability to add more ideas.
Itās a moot point anyway, the damage (or not) had already been done.
Why didnāt this thread get auto-locked after a year?
Makes me think 24 tooth gears would fit.
Another way is the lockbar-standoff method.

Gather materials (1 3-4in flexwheel, 2 lockbars, 4 1in standoffs, 4 .25 in screws, 4 .375 in screws, polycarbonate).

With the polycarb Make a 2 discs slightly wider than the lockbars width, and make 5 holes in a + shape on pitch with the lockbars.

Take a lockbar and polycarb disc, screw standoff through polycarb onto lockbar.

Use same piece and attach other 2 standoffs to it.

Stick standoff first through hole of flexwheel, making sure to try minimizing bending of the standoffs.

Screw the other polycarb disc on the other side, and screw lockbar on top.
Done

Will these makeshift hubs work for flywheels, or will they slip?
personally I donāt think Iād trust this on a flywheel.

Recently, I order some flex wheels for some testing and the versahubs are out of stock. Because of that Iāve had to make my own poly carb hubs and they are working so far. Unfortunately, they do not provide more flexing in flex wheels but I donāt think itās that big of a deal because I am using them for a flywheel.
custom polycarb hubs do seem to me like the cleanest and most reliable solution for a flywheel, but I would trust these somewhat less solid solutions for something like an intake.

cool! i have seen a team use this, and when the flex wheel is spinning at around 3000-4000 rpms, the rubber expands, and the flex wheel falls off the tank tread. do you have any ways of preventing this?
An easy fix would just be to wrap some zip ties around the tank tread to hold it down and prevent expansion/keep traction.
what if you just donāt use tank treads for high velocity applications like flywheels.
The tank treads wrapped around a 6t sprocket work well with the 1.625ā flex wheels. This could be a good solution for teams without versahex adapters.
This maybe could be good for the 10pt rollers, or for different stages of the intake. The compression is reduced compared to the flex wheels on the versahex adapters, but it could be an ok solution for teams lacking parts.
