For the 2â flex wheels Iâve found that using a 12 tooth gear in place of the adapters works quite well. You can get the flex wheels to spin on the regular adapter, but with the gear the teeth grab quite well and the rotation is locked. Also, itâs completely flush with the side profile of the flex wheel instead of sticking out like the conventional adapters.
Have you tried this in a spinning flywheel though? Iâm gonna try it later today if I finish modding the motor but I feel like that would expand out of the gears reach. Unsure though.
idk why you would want a 2" flywheel, and I wouldnât trust this mount for speeds that flywheels run at. If youâre trying to run a 2" flywheel, I would just laser cut some poly to create a more secure mounting.
This would be more useful as an intake wheel, as it is likely spinning at a slower rpm and would be less likely to fall off the gear due to centrifugal forces.

I dunno, depends on the application (required RPMs). Iâll test it though, it might not even be a problem.
As the versahubs are limited right now, I could see this being useful for the intakes where they donât spin fast enough to expand.
Thatâs not a bad idea. I assume you guys run these with clutches? Now Iâm wondering how hard it would be to fit weights around the open space in the center. I feel like it could become a meme to use weird things as hubs⌠I mean more than it is⌠I mean, never mind. I like this idea though. Simple and easy to manufacture as well as efficient.
Thats the best non-poly solution ive seen yet, simple and effective. Only issue is you need to actually have one hub, and without its not any easier than polycarbonate
Couldnât you just lay the gear over the flex wheel, see where the holes are then just mark them and then drill.
that could work, but its much harder to perfectly center the gear on the wheel without something to align to in the center. probably going to stick with poly for now
A very easy tool for trying to cut hole patterns in polycarb for me is to just mock up the holes and the circle in a cad drawing then print to scale the drawing. Cut out the drawing and now you have a peice of papper than has the correct placement for the holes.
This was my solution to not having versa hubs, itâs not the most low profile solution, but it is good because you can change how much it weighs/ how much it holds the flex wheel
(Screw another gear on the other side or connect two of them together if you want two flex wheels on your flywheel)
It is important if you want to build this, notice the standoffs in the two holes on the flex wheel
I use this method, but with only the inside 4 standoffs and the 2 in the flex wheel holes.
Yeah, I added the other standoffs for weight and because anything less and the flywheel would start to warp at high speeds
