Catalogue of Drive Gearings

Due to frequent questions and discussions on drive speeds, but not a lot of resources on the layouts of the possible gearings themselves, I’ve created this resource for people to see a catalogue of drive speeds that I’ve deemed as viable, and some commentary on each layout. All drives shown here are on 6 motors, and all drives here are compatible with center traction wheel. (some drives have 8 wheels so traction will be offset from center). Here are some options. Personally I’d choose something around the realm of 2.75 450 rpm (so ratio that are around that in/s value), and see how that feels. That is around a mid-range speed given the crowdedness of this field and also the fact that it takes a driver a long time to get used to a faster speed. For reference 40 in/s is slow and 80 in/s is super fast.
