End of our season. Now what?

Same! I made it to state semifinals with a v5 clawbot! We had won because we were either 1st or 2nd in skills or we were 1-5th place in the leaderboard so yea

Try and get as good as you can at making fast, consistent autonomous routines. Its one of the only things that has guaranteed usefulness between seasons. Even drivetrains often have unique requirements that cant be anticipated between seasons.

I will be in VEX IQ for next year. The year after that I will be in VEX V5.

Here is something I could recommend doing over the summer

  1. Start getting familiar with the pieces if you are familiar with the pieces you can easily know what something is.
  2. If you are having trouble in teamwork work on that it can be time consuming, but the results will be great.
  3. Try codeing on other website like code.org or Microbit on the wesbsite. Out of this Microbit can have tutorials and, but code.org is way more fun because you code minigames, so either would be could.
  4. You could also practice writing so you can get a notebook award which can guarantee getting into state I think if your in finals.
  5. You could also just play in the summer if u want to

Hope this helps a lot

I challenged the teams to move a v5 game piece from one end of a table to the other using a min of 3 mechanisms (I gave them field tiles to anchor their creation). Monday we will link the creations together into a long rube-goldberg-esque machine. So far there is a catapult, a slide, tiny push cars, rubber band intakes, conveyor belts, and a funnel. My plan with the new game is to make them do this again with the new game pieces as a foundation for next year’s bots.

Not for me but for some of my teammates should do this(Long story short, we have 4 members on our team including me, but one person does barely anything. My 2 other teammates use him as a scapegoat for all our problems, so I am the only one that is nice to him. So basically, I am the person keeping the team glued together).

I love code.org! I already use it to code random projects.

This would be useful for the V5 teams at my school!

You should probably practice making different drivetrains (my team finds it very helpful” and then see which one is the best.

good luck trying to find a forum for that. I don’t think anyone posts in the VEX Air catagorys

well my team is crazy dedicated we come during summer, fall, and winter break (maybe spring if we make it to worlds)

Except for when they post in the wrong category :sob:

cad is great and second you get the 26-27 game start designing bots on cad since you can’t go to school

CAD is great, but I don’t really have access to any CAD software apart from TinkerCAD. Onshape is blocked, and I’m on a Chromebook(also I won’t have my Chromebook over the summer). The only other option is to use my personal laptop, but I don’t think my parents will allow me.

Huh? Why would your school block OnShape. I would ask whoever could help with that to request to unblock it.

I don’t see why they wouldn’t allow it. It’s for educational use, and will help develop skills that you may use in the future.

You could ask the it to remove the ban but explain why you need it

why not and tell them why you need it

Schools block the most nonsensical things sometimes.

Sometimes it’s more complicated than that…

For example, our county blocked scratch, (the coding website) because a few kids were playing games on it. (It was kind of unfair, because a few of my friends and I were actually coding and being productive, and we had to stop because a few kids played games on scratch). I get that OnShape doesn’t have games, but sometimes there’s a deeper meaning to the block. But yes, @5020_Offical, you should ask someone in charge of that stuff to see what they can do about it. And, if they say no, then unfortunately you will have to live with it.

They probably blocked it because our school has a big problem with using 3D modeling software for absolutely no reason(or for having fun while the teacher is speaking). I’m surprised that TinkerCAD is still unblocked for us.

My parents think I spend too much time on VEX, and if I ask them about doing 3D modeling for VEX over the summer, they will go insane.

Im surprised Onshape is blocked for you

EXACTLY WHAT I’M SAYING!!! Also, they haven’t blocked the whole site, just the “are you a robot” part, so it is impossible to get signed up. I am planning to ask my coach to ask someone in the tech department to fix that because my coach is really good friends with someone there.

Agreed.

Sorry if I was being a bit blunt. I’ve been homeschooled my entire life, and I just assumed that the website blocking worked like Microsoft Family Saftey or something similar.

Well, this isn’t what you’re wanting to hear, but they are probably right. My parents told me the same thing, and I really sufered because I didn’t listen to them. However, I would talk with them and set up an actual timeframe to work on things, showign them how long everything takes, so they know you aren’t just wasting your time playing around and you know that they support you and that they unerstand your hobby a bir more.
