Farmville

Sorry about that, but just by looks, they really were big blocks that didn’t need to be that big, most were just useful for just getting in the way of other robots, I also reconized that for some reason(not sure about yours) but they couldn’t even get on the platform!

ya i think we were the only box bot to get onto the platform…
and we only did it ONCE. that was during our 1st quarterfinal match, and it was very satisfying because we had been trying to get on it for the whole tournoment and we hadn’t.

If you get my PM, you will probably remember our trying to get on the platform too. We did once, but accidentally drove right back off.

oh yeah!!!
thats why we couldnt get on the platform on that last match cause u guys had part of ur bot on it poping up one side.

or atleast thats my theory.

no, actually our robot was too low

didnt u get on the platform and fell off in our 2nd quarter match??
or am i just imaginig things??

probably, I don’t know when it was

Big empty boxes can be many good things
*]They can be the start of a more complicated bot
*]They can take up space on defense
*]They herd lots of balls that are under control because they are rolling on the inside of the bot
*]They can have lots of friction because of their weight
They can be many bad things
*]They can be too heavy to get on the platform unassisted (we needed just the teeniest of pushes to get our back wheels up
*]They can be very hard to turn (especially if you lengthen the wheelbase instead of sticking with the shorter one that worked during the practice matches)
*]They can be slow
*]They can be hard to use to steal or dislodge an atlas ball
*]They can be hard to use to empty opponents’ low goals
*]They can be a royal pain to fit into my MR2
No offense taken. That was the first time the girls had the robot in a field situation, and it got a ball stuck under it several times. They were only able to dislodge it once; the other times they were pretty much crippled. Prior to Saturday, that had only happened once or twice so I am not sure why it was so much more prevalent in Farmville.

Nonetheless, now that they have gained some “real world” experience, they have all sorts of ideas for improvements.

so is anyone going to the NC regional in march??
just wonderin…
