Holy wallbots batman

Yeah, probably not a wallbot then.

I’m pretty sure if I grabbed objects at the tip of my claw, I could score over this. Great attempt, but this doesn’t change my mind that wallbot are impractical. Then of course, a good catapult would absolutely destroy this design.

I found this picture on twitter… It was already revealed jist not on the forums

Isn’t that @LEER 's team?

@Mystical Pie i have no clue, besides i couldnt get the picture, its in the uk and im in missouri :stuck_out_tongue:

I was thinking it was too. If it is, it’s kind of ironic. At the beginning of the season he was building bots to destroy wallbots. Now he is a wallbot

A push/wallbot team sounds pretty OP. If situations allowed, I’d definitely ally with them just to see what would happen.

Somebody sounds salty. It isn’t against the rules to post pictures of robots, considering that this forum is made for sharing ideas and robots.

Moreover, the event is public and photos and videos are expected.

1st…major props for a great example of playing the game differently. Definitely one of the best I’ve seen. They went undefeated at their regional event but it did not appear to qualify them for worlds. This may have been because there were only 11 teams at that event. As far as I can tell, this weekend will be the end of their season.

Vertical plane has nothing to do with it. If a scoring object is not touching any zone, then if it is supported by a robot or another scoring object, it is scored in the zone in which the robot or other scoring object is. If the support is in two scoring zones on the same side of the fence, it goes to the higher zone. If it is being supported by two robots from two different sides of the fence it will not score at all.

I other words, if the wallbot is the only robot supporting the scoring objects and they are not touching the floor tiles, they would score where the wallbot is no matter the vertical plane.

Is there a video of this somewhere?

@steven1233f not as far as i know, i could only find the picture

Another view of this wallbot, from a friend of mine across the pond who’s competing there.

Its like when we played against the saber cats wall, Just threw cube after cube until we trapped the wall in one place

Yeah if you are going to build a wall it has to be as big as the whole fence and have some other way for your partner to score.

Still a work in progress… (40/40 in quals lol)

Premature robot specs:
-10 motor holonomic drive
-wall
-fits in the size limit, trust me, we’ve passed inspection loads of times after being called out

Wall:
We can lower each of the three section individually so are partners can score over.

Expansion:
-fairly quick
-fairly reliable

Collapsing:

-incredibly time consuming
-incredibly annoying
-incredibly painful

Just looking forward to winning at least one match tomorrow with the wallbot

Nice! Good luck

I don’t believe that wall bots are going to work at worlds. So everyone on the clawbot hype train, don’t worry. Why don’t I think so? It’s because only things that have been tested and tournament-hardened will work. Clawbots have been created all over the world and have been proven to work very well so they won’t be defeated very easily. This is the exact reason why you see clawbots in state finals and not pushbots. The hype for pushbots died down so quickly and the reason why is above. As for wall bots, I feel that if it was introduced and used a lot early in the season, then it would be a threat, but it wasn’t. So wallbots are gonna be weak.

Yay, we’re not alone! We went with something similar to this, except it’s all based off of a normal, non-expanding base. The tower connects via a turret that so we can turn the base and strafe the fence using our standard (*gasp) wheels, which when parallel to the fence are very hard to push. And instead of plexi-glass we plan on running nylon strips across the hands for weight and stability reasons.

Plus, it’s a TSA tournament, so it’s 1v1. Which is better, since basically the plan is to get to the fence, clear the fence, and prevent the other team from ever scoring. We did this because we got in too late and just wanted to try our own thing since even if we did well we wouldn’t move up. Anyhow, glad to see someone else dared to try something different. But hey, maybe underestimating wallbots is just what we need right? Can’t hurt, best of luck to you guys!
