This post by @Milo shows a direct drive flywheel adapter. I built one of these using the directions from the Vex Hex youtube video on the topic, but it is somewhat imbalanced due to having zip ties on either side to allow it to fit onto the output gear. Does anyone know how this adapter was made? (I do not want to have a conversation about if this is legal, we missed competition season anyway and are just experimenting)
someone made a laser-cut version that may be more reliable. I have not tried it because I don’t have a laser cutter ![]()
These direct drive cartridges are legal
I have one made out of vex legal perats rn, I was just looking for that exact one
The way I made this 3600 cart is by drilling out a circular insert, and attaching it and a square insert on the two sides of a 0.5" high-strength spacer. This spacer with the drilled insert and square insert was then press fitted onto the gear inside the motor. The way I press fitted it was by just putting it in a vice and just clamping it in. Motor gears are pretty strong, so you probably wont break it. Let me know if you have other questions.
Thanks! Sounds a lot less jank than my current adapter.
So how legal is this in over under?
