How Would Someone Use LED Strips?

I was wondering if anyone knew how to legally use LED strips on a robot. Q&A 2652 makes this incredibly confusing. Since you can’t solder anything, can’t have any micro controllers, and can’t use non Vex platform fastening techniques. Q&A

If anyone knows any information on how to use LED’s it would be greatly appreciated.

This was discussed back in June

You can use a crimp connector. I highly recommend the one below, because it is 12mm instead 10, which is the thickness of the LED strips. It is meant for 5 wire LEDs, but it works the same if you put the 3 wires in the middle and the ends. I also found that this was significantly easier to put the strips into, most likely because it’s meant for larger strips.

Just make sure to match up the ground data and power wires correctly

One thing to be careful of (and I’m not saying the product you posted does this) is that the current rules preclude teams from soldering, which had been allowed in past years.

R24D says that you could have an internal power source that only powers non-functional lights. What one of our sister teams did was connect LEDs to a battery with a switch.

you should probably forgo the gamer lighting on your robot. that’s, like, super extra. goofball activities

I just came across a post on yt about this (I can’t find the link sry) but he said he uses a battery as decoration and the switch is on the battery and not connected to the brain.
