I Made a 100% Not At All Fake, Completely Working, VEX Drone

After working for a while, I finally figured out how to make a working VEX drone with V5. I have put a GIF of it below and a full video on my youtube page. It most definitely works, 100%, and is in no way shape or form a render I made in Autodesk Inventor.

Specs:

4 V5 Smart Motors

To those I have to explain this to, this is a joke. I did make the model and the render, but this would in no way actually work

Minimalistic structure to reduce weight

Gyroscope to measure rotation

I mean you posted it, I want to know what the props are made of

The props are made of lexan. Side note, this is 100% VRC legal.

I’m genuinely curious how much upward force this would have

you could in theory do the math, but I think it’s safe to say that it won’t fly.

It might actually work even though vex motors are kind of weak, because, I mean, If this thing can fly, maybe even a vex drone will work.

Or a vex plane, but a plane would be kind of useless, and have to be made of lexan.

At first glance I thought that the props were made out of standoffs in the render and I just sat here and laughed (a lot) until I read your other post that they are supposed to be lexan. I would love to see this actually become a working prototype though.

or you can go the ‘screwing motors into the brain’ method

This is genius; you can fly over the water in next year’s competition.

Don’t the wings have to be made of Lexan?

I assumed you were saying the plane structure would be made of lexan. If you want to be technical about it you could probably cut out a prop out of the large sprockets if you were so inclined

I thought they where axles spinning horizontally, which just made it better
