I Want to Make YOU an App

Thank you again, as for your offer about helping development, in short I would love your help. I’m not totally sure how development of the app is going to operate, but I know I want it to include the community. So, no matter how things fall into place and how development continues, I would love your help if your willing. (I’ll continue to communicate with you as I figure out how to continue development of the app with the community.)

I definitely need it, I’m not very experienced in software engineering and have been in over my head developing this app.

Another idea for the app would be sharing notes with teammates. Maybe some tool to send it people around you or maybe add teammates so you could share notes with your teammates.

Well, you’re in luck, I must say! Fellow VEX enthusiast and slightly sleep-deprived software guy here to help

Would you have a Discord I could reach out to?

I’m not really on Discord, but I do have one you can get in touch with me through, my username is 2775U-SG

Gave ya a quick request.

@Seth_G I’ve been working on something similar – though less feature-rich at this point at least – on iOS. I really don’t have the experience or environment to make mine for Android, but perhaps we could combine forces and cover both platforms with native apps. If you’re interested, let me know!

I definitely intrigued, and would love to know more about what your thinking. Do you have a Discord or another way I could reach you?

Discord: hrc_kennybarnt

Nice cant wait for that to be out

I would love the ability to add my team’s schedule for the tournament including a way to find the team names so that we could easily find them to practice and maybe a five minute alert before our match times. Good luck in finishing the app!

Thanks for the ideas, they are all really great, and I’ll try to implement most, if not all, of them.

I made an account just for this post, lol. I’m a web developer on a VEX team and would love to help in the development of your app.

I’ve also been working on my own PWA for the past year with most of the same goals as yours. We can talk in DMs, is there anywhere I can reach you? (Discord, email, etc)

I would love your help, I’m going to open the app up for beta testing in a week or so, that would be the best way you can start out helping,

For field viewer, use PATH.JERRYIO

Yo, there’s already an app that does most of this, Robot Stats (same as the YT channel).

  • team schedules for events

  • tap any team number for instant stats + name

  • search teams by name

  • built-in match predictor

  • event radar on the home screen telling you exactly when to queue

  • built-in scouting list (pulled from event rankings + notes)

  • gameplay videos for some teams (from quals & regionals)

lowkey fire, not sure how people don’t know about it, been out for a few years.
apple and android

It could have playlists of videos that teach coding, how to build a drivetrain, lift designs and stuff like that.

I’ll reach out to some creators to see if they would like there videos on the app, it’s a great idea.

One thing most apps are always missing are data with the awards. For skills champion, give their combined score, and the top 3 skills teams at that event. For tournment champion. Show their alliance partner, their seed, who they beat in finals, and the top 4 teams at the event after quals. This would give teams much more information than just knowing “Oh, they won skills and tournment champion”. Other than that, it looks good!

Could you make the app available on the App Store?

@thejose1 Hey guys does anyone else notice that he is advertizing his app on @Seth_G 's page where he is asking for tips on his app development
