I am interested to see all of those who are here, so we get a good basis of what to expect in terms of opinions in regards to this forum. I would really appreciate as honest of an answer as possible. Also, thank you so much for your time. Which Gang Are You?

According to your personal or previous experience or views, what do you rate the following:
In terms of the caps, it’s related to scoring caps on posts with any type of cap intake (Fork, slit, 1814D intake, L-Intake, etc.). It’s more or less in general any type of robot with a cap manipulator that can score a cap on a post.
oh. I was under the impression you were polling to see which of those (fork 6 bar, cascade lifts) was best, not just scoring caps in general. I think there was a post somewhere discussing the viability of caps and the consensus was that its too slow and doesn’t score enough points, so people just went with flags.
I have spent the entire year with the same exact design. The lift is the same exact lift that was used since the beginning of the year, but the intake was rebuilt. It is built now to be lighter, stronger, and more compact to allow the V5 motor to fit on the side. A great deal of time when making the robot wasn’t building for me, but figuring out how to build it. I took the cap route not because it was easy, but because it was hard. My robot is constantly being tuned more and more, just like yours, so you’re not the only one having to deal with the process
I still need to get rid of the pinion gear system on the side of my intake, it is about the only “jank” part of our robot. I started the year with a pretty crappy 6 bar design and decided to redeem my DR4B lift history.
I’ve kept the same design all year as well, but the reason I see for capgang is that if you’re good enough at it, you can be allianced with a good ball robot (since there are more of those). Even if a cap bot isn’t as high-scoring, it can be tuned to be as fast or faster than ball robots.
How in the world are you managing to ally with shooter bots in Tennessee. From what I’ve experienced there aren’t many, especially when you consider that Brentwood wouldn’t even think about allying with an outsider.
Well we are a ball bot, St. Geroge’s has a few ball bots, 2775 also has a few ball bots, and there are a few other ball bots around. I’d say there’s more functional ball bots than functional cap bots tbh.
I disagree completely. To go off of what Mannan said, there are most certainly more ball bots than cap bots, especially in high school. Off the top of my head, I can list 12. Also, many Brentwood teams (and other clubs with many teams in general) choose to alliance with teams outside of their organization. At the most recent tournament, this happened twice. I understand where you’re coming from, but there’s no reason to worry about large clubs picking themselves. If you’re good, they’ll take notice.
I know there are more ball bots than cap bots, but most of our recent tournaments have had only 2-3 shooting robots in the whole competition. So I guess you guys are north Tennessee? South Tennessee doesn’t have that many shooters.
I have closed the poll. Here are the results in a more compact way:
Punchers (32% Of Population)
Consistency: 85.4%
Durability/Stability: 78.7%
Speed: 67.9%
Difficulty To Build: 41.9%
Effectiveness in Competition: 75.0%
Effectiveness in Skills: 75.1%
Flywheels (31% Of Population)
Consistency: 65.2%
Durability/Stability: 65.3%
Speed: 71.6%
Difficulty To Build: 76.4%
Effectiveness in Competition: 69.2%
Effectiveness in Skills: 65.7%
Catapults (29% Of Population)
Consistency: 69.7%
Durability: 66.1%
Speed: 73.9%
Difficulty To Build: 63.9%
Effectiveness in Competition: 73.6%
Effectiveness in Skills: 83.5%
Caps (8% Of Population)
Consistency: 58.8%
Durability/Stability: 60.9%
Speed: 46.3%
Difficulty To Build: 56.0%
Effectiveness in Competition: 44.5%
Effectiveness in Skills: 41.7%
Having 130 voters for this poll is really good because we get as authentic of a result as possible.
Hopefully this helps in terms of deciding the right mechanisms for teams
