Easier Cable Management
It isnāt legal now, and I donāt know if it was ever legal because I havenāt ever seen it in competition. It would still be cool if there was a dark game where you had to use the vision sensor and the flashlight to navigate a part of the field that is pitch black. I donāt know how this would be made though.
I believe you can use 3D printed parts for cable management, I could be very wrong so donāt quote me on that ( the rules donāt say no). But in my opinion, zip ties are better.

Re: Flashlight - itās from the VEX Explorer kits circa 2009? They were very cool, they had black frame pieces, much nicer than the plain metal. I remember from rules around that time that the metal was fine, the flashlight was not. The control system for the Explorer was different and part of the issue was the current flow for the flashlight was pretty high.
I would make the v5 cables actually work after a few weeks.

From my experience, the led on the V5 optical sensor is much brighter than the cortex flashlight running on the V5. It is bright enough to help a vision sensor reliably see objects at close range when ambient lighting isnāt good.
What do you mean by this, can you explain in a bit more detail ?
The biggest issue here is cost. The products I used to design for the film and broadcast industry used almost exclusively connectors from a company called Lemo. But they were often $50 and up per connector. Even at the vey low end you may be looking at $5 per connector, so it makes for very expensive products and cables.
Maybe make add mechanical game objects. For example maybe things are on a rotating platform and there is the cube that can drive around so that way there is a bot trying to grab said scoring object while the other driver is trying to drive away from the opposing team.
Or maybe there are those balls from Nothing But Net and they sit on top of these air vents floating so you would need a high up claw to reach them.
This idea would take some serious refinement but it could be doable. Just something where not every object on the field is stationary. Maybe the cubes could move around?
