This is a private company they have no obligations to release evidence this is not a trial calm down.

"First of all you have every right to see the evidence and/or discovery "
This is not a trial they do not have to expose evidence that is protected by privacy laws.
What privacy law is that exactly???

Tarek was not even familiar with 448X before this incident. Again, the REC Foundation did not initiate the complaints. They were brought forward to us.

I personally love independent teams. This is a unique aspect of the VEX Robotics competition.
I felt the social media posts were relevant.
You are correct that the administrator advocated for a different resolution.
- There also have been multiple people that have supported the decision and are thankful we are enforcing G1 and the Code of Conduct.
I asked the 448X student to apologize for using the word âCorruptionâ
EPs and Volunteers are critical to our program. I hope that all EPs and Volunteers know the REC Foundation truly appreciates them and will support them.
Contract law might be at better read. Teams engage in a contract with RECF with regards to conduct and following of rules in the game manual, there is also participant consent form. Best to start there in the discussions with regards to torts real or perceived.
Can you show me what social media post you are referring to?
I requested that the school administration and parents be present on the call for transparency for all involved parties (including me). To be fully honest, I felt that everyone would be more respectful if the school principal was on the call.
Do you agree that it is ok for someone to get a school system involed to no benifit of the dq. This seems rather maliciousâŚ
But as one of the parents said, the first question you asked was âWhy did you leave the school team?â You then went on to talk to the principal about irrelevant things. How was this call helpful?
Of course all the legalese is moot here, not a Constitutional issue.
If principal currently unrelated to the team is included, it should be to consider his input, not so much to protect decorum.
RECF seems to need a clearly defined public-facing appeals process.
A teachable moment for all - or not. Corporate governance is difficult, fear/avoidance is not useful.
As far as any ârelease of evidenceâ goes, the only remotely responsible thing RECF could do would be to privately and individually reach out to and notify each person who submitted complaints, inform them of this thread, and leave it up to them to come in and state their own complaint. I would not expect them to do so.
Alright, I have sympathy for 448x, but now that I heard the other side it is hard to argue against it. Clearly there had to have been an occurrence, its not like they fabricated a scandal out of thin air. Someone did something wrong. Was it justified to ban someone from Worlds? IDK. But what i do know is that we donât make the rules, we can only follow them. If RECF just lets it slide then what is the point in having rules? Sometimes you have to be held accountable for what you did, even if it may seem daunting and unreasonable. Rules arenât meant to be suggestions, they have to be enforced somehow. It isnât our call to decide, we can only abide by the rules. So sure, there were some words being exchanged that may not have settled well with RECF, but escalating a situation is the last thing we want.
Moving on AS A COMMUNITY is the best thing we can do because it doesnât seem like any official is changing their mind on this call. What can we take from this situation? How can we make it positive? We can continue arguing about whether or not it was the right call for hours, the fact of the matter is is that the call was made and we canât change the circumstances because quite frankly it isnât our fight. 448x can continue to fight this if they so please, but now that we have drawn the attention of one of the head officials of vex, lets use this opportunity for change. Perhaps, in light of positivity, a water game?
âHey this mob wants to know who came forward to complain, would you like to come out and say it was you?â
You wouldnât do that?
What other side is there besides 448x? There is no argument against them besides âsocial mediaâ which they are not even allowed to see.
The RECF is the other side
Yes, it is appropriate and necessary. It is a group of children having an argument with an adult head of a company.
Option 1: The team is 100% innocent and all of the complaints are a targeted attack to bring down this team (again, why?)
Option 2: The team is guilty and has been arguing for weeks and complaining about the unfairness of it all.
If option 1 is the case, what harm is caused by having a school administrator involved? Are you afraid that your principal is going to suspend you? That they are in on the conspiracy against you?
If option 2 is the case, the RECF has ample reason to believe that unsupervised, the team will just fabricate more injustices against themselves. Adding an adult in the room with the children just adds one layer of security to prevent that.
personally I believe we should be making it very clear what determines a season DQ and how to avoid them, this is the 3rd time in 2 years this has happened. thatâs 3 too many.
They are over 18 years of age, they are not children.
I think this is the current situation as it is seen by most of 448xâs side here:
Itâs hard to give be RECF the âbenefit of the doubtâ when theyâre not willing to release the evidence in question. Whether it be for privacy, legal, or moral reasons, the fact of the matter is that the side of 448X has released evidence in the form of videos and testimonies, as well as the testimonies of other teams that have dealt with the same sector of the RECF, whereas the RECF has not. Itâs hard to stay impartial when only one side has come forward with something tangible, so being disappointed in us for not giving the RECF the benefit of the doubt is a little misguided.
You claim that Tarek was not familiar with this team prior to this incident, and claim that this ârepeated attack on himâ is troubling, but have not addressed the equally troubling testimonies of what Tarek has done over the course of multiple seasons. Regardless of what may or may not have occurred with 448X, there is now further clarity on what occurred with both 62A and 6007X last year. Itâs hard to choose words that donât come across as attacking when he has been shown to attack teamsâ spots at the World Championship.
To those of us that are bringing legal terminology and laws into this discussion, it is a private company and they can do what they want. They donât have to show us their evidence, but they do have to understand the overall sense of distrust that it creates when they choose not to.
