Motors and Driving Systems

What’s the difference between 2, 4, and 6 motors

and also whats the difference between chain, gear, and direct motor systems?

Pretty simple. 2 motors means that there are only 2 motors on it. 4 motors means that there are 4 motors. 6 motors means that there are 6 motors on it. A 4 motor system will have more power than a 2 motor system, and a 6 motor system will have more power than both. But be careful though, as you can only have 8 motors on your robot.

Geared motor systems are where the inputs and outputs are connected by gears, versus being connected by chain. With both gears and chain, you can also increase the speed or torque of the system. An example of a geared drive train as an example can be found here, and a chain one can be seen here.
A direct drive system is the easiest and simplest, it consists of placing the driven mechanism on the same shaft as the motor (normally). However, you cannot increase or decrease the torque or speed other than the speed of the motor.
