Taiwan drive OP-OP
Now that planetary drives are suddenly becoming popular I thought it worth getting feedback on the best way to control them from a programming perspective. For this discussion the choice of tank or arcade style control is not important so lets just consider tank style. Normally this is done as follows (pseudocode)
LeftMotorSpeed = LeftJoyStickValue;
RightMotorSpeed = RightJoyStickValue;
With the Taiwan drive we now have the choice of running in torque mode with an effective gear ratio of 1:1…
Too bad the concept is not efficient because high friction losses as @Doctortictac said.
Edit: all the image links in the original topics are broken and the long video from 4194B is no longer there… This is the best I could find:
@Ryan_4253B , maybe you could ask them to reupload their original long video with the detailed explanations - it was epic!
I found them in one of our cabinets 2 years ago. So of course rookie me had to zip tie some to our robot. Oddly enough, the inspection peeps at states didn’t care
Not really an old item, but nevertheless still an interesting one. During the 2018-2019 Vex IQ Next Level World Championships, I actually got Grant Cox to sign this card.
Also, hi, yes we are officially back now
The J should be a D.
And is Grant really a joker?
Or is it a jack?
