Will do! Thanks for telling me about this
Umm, what does this mean?
sarcasm does not convey well in text ![]()
It looks like my post is looking very controversial. Although I consider myself a very open-minded person so if you have any different opinions then I am open to accept them.
I get your struggles, man- But I suggest taking off that bad attitude on how the game’s gonna go! It always smoothens out later in time!
Check out Vex’s goal, it’s not to make us be extra picky about the field designs, or get mad at things that Judges say (etc, etc).
The world currently faces an unprecedented need for new innovators, thinkers, and problem solving leaders . We already need double the number of qualified workers if we want to fill open STEM positions. And that gap will only increase. Industry leaders, governments, educators, and parents are all searching for solutions that will enable them to get all students excited.
They aren’t our enemies, they’re just trying to prepare us to become better people in the future by using things that are fun. It’s not supposed to be something you stress over and complain on- It’s supposed to be something to ENJOY.
Can we all be friends now?
Holy wall of text…
@HK66613THenry , PLEASE use paragraphs; they were invented for a reason ![]()
I appreciate the effort put into this post, but as bkahl mentioned, it doesn’t do much for the teams or the creators and revisioners of the game.
But anyway,
This is just difficult to look at
Yea I must say i agree, I’m from Hong Kong but I learn vex in Shen Zhen. One of the main problems with the field that i had must be the center goals. Because we are using 600 RPM motors with large machines, whenever we ram into the center goals they just lift up pulling the foam mats underneath upwards. This tilts literally just drops all the blocks out. Like when we are in training, one of our strategies when the control bonus is given to the opposing team, we just spam forward and backwards and that just clear everything out. This season feels like a massive disappointment and a huge flop, and it might have been one of the most anticipated seasons and one of the most competitive seasons that we have ever had. Especially with the popularity of vex increasing and as the competitiveness and spirits grows higher. This just feels like the designers gave 1. no effort whatsoever in the design 2. Zero testing of the game mechanics. And don’t even get me started on the quality of the materials. The plastic is weak and flimsy. I swear my coach is getting worries about this. The field cost 900 USD or 7200 Rmb / hkd. It’s been around one month, and I can already see the scratches and cracking in the plastic. Remember the High Stakes Tower and the Poles on the edge. Those were strong, credit to whoever designed those. Or the Over and Under ones. Those could withstand entire machines ramming into them, and for good reason. Those were held by actual strong metal. Both of these were Heavy, durable, and functional. Unlike the absolute joke of a field that’s in this season. By the way, the quality of the field seems to be a recurring problem. The materials used in the season was an absolute failure. The metal used to hold the goals are thin like paper. They have practically zero weight and they go flying the moment any robot makes contact with them. This season has a poorly designed game, minimal testing, and the absolute joke of a field that literally no quality. For a 7200 RMB field, you’d think that you’d be getting something good. Theres many more problems that I don’t want to mention because this isn’t constructive feedback and it isn’t what the vex team needs to fix the game. Here’s some solutions I have: 1. Rubber rings facing inwards that attach to the side of the goal. This forces drivers to race against the other team to fill the goals to the maximum. After all the slots are filled the drivers can then use their robots to descore, because they need more force to be able to descore from the inward facing rubber rings. 2. Change the rules of parking to become easier to earn the 30 points. Although teams may be punished for parking because the opponents can descore. These two rules make it harder for people to descore and more rewards to parking. Giving people more motivation to park. 3. Quality wise I would say there’s nothing we can really do about it. Just remind the game designer of next year’s games to find better materials for the field. Let this be a reminder for the game designers. To test the game and have better quality materials. ![]()

After spelling and grammar, formatting is fundamental.
I mean my team already has our field and the field seems to be holding up pretty well even after getting rammed into a bunch of times by accident. The plastic parts are very thick and im sure if someone is going to be ramming into the goals, they would be more worried about their robot breaking then the field. Push back seems pretty well designed. even if the middle goal rips the tiles under very extreme circumstances like vexU ten motor drives, they shipped new field tiles with the element kit so we dont have to buy new ones.
I think, for a person who has just learned english as a second language, I’m doing pretty well. So, forgive me if I forget to add paragraphs in my text, english is not my first language. (I’m also pretty sure that this is related with the topic so I would like to end this thing about paragraphs right here)
Thats great to hear your quiet satisfied with your field quality, however I think the quality problem might be nation based. We have 2 courts and both of them have the same problems. If you go to vex via and 7/19/2025 and click on the Wuhan competition you will see the competition that I went to and on Q14 the judges spent 15 minutes fixing the field because the goal had pulled the foam out when one of the robots slammed into it too hard. So maybe the quality may vary from region to region.

??? I am puzzled, you come here and complain about field quality, offer a lot of opinions. So if it is a problem with fields, there would be a loud outcry about the game set field elements, so far I have not witnessed such outcry on the forum (a good cross section representation of teams around the globe).
I poked around on RobotEvents and the only event with your team is this one:
It does not appear that results are being pushed out where we can see them. Moreover, the event does not have a published webcast/livestream link.
In the future, it would be helpful to provide links to events you are talking about and if you want us to see something specific, provide a link to the livestream.
From experience, it does not take 15 minutes to reseat four tiles, so I am wondering if your events have an different setup that the one recommended by VEX for the Game - which includes a metal base plate for the center goal and two plates are required for each of the long goals.
Also, Judges conduct interview with teams and review notebooks, they have no role at the field. I am assuming you are referring to Head Referee, scorers, and Event Partner.
Yes, about the referee one I meant Head referee and not judge, it’s a bit hard for me understanding the different english vocabulary. Thank you very much for the correction.
Guys, every year, GDC makes a game, and we find problems in it, thats normal, we’re smart, we adapt to this kind of stuff, you guys are in Vex robotics for a reason, we’re all smart and we need to learn how to solve issues - not by complaining, but finding solutions. We adapt to problems, every problem has a solution, and if you can’t find one, that means your not working hard enough.
Every year, the new game has one problem everyone likes to act will be the end of the game. Remember how concerned people were with the support of the ladder in high stakes just for it to be a small inconvenience at worst. I think we need to let the game develop a bit, and then we will see how prevalent these issues end up being. This is not to say your concern is worth nothing, but I think this years game will work out just as fine as years prior.

Paraphrase confirmed?
There was no need to revive this thread. All these points have already been made.
I love push back
Its great
