Regular Status: TL3 Lounge

Now that [at least 10] of us are now ‘regulars’, I have to ask: Where is this sweet new lounge thing I’ve heard so much about?

Pretty sure it’s disabled here.

I think it would be here if enabled:

Nooooooo. I wanted my lounge :frowning: @DRow can you enable the lounge?

I see that @Barin edited the title

I’ll be honest; I don’t really like the idea of an exclusive lounge on the forums. I feel like the community would contribute more to newer members without the lounge.

I’m on another forum that also uses Discourse and in case if anybody’s wondering, this is what a ‘Regular Lounge’ looks like:
(The forum’s also formatted a lot differently than this one)

If you’re wondering what goes on there, its pretty much less active version of the main forum with fewer but more polite users of the forum.

For reference, this is what the main page looks like without the lounge.

Like what @GBHS_VEX_Member said, there’s really no point in having such lounge like this on this forum, since not everybody can see it. Plus, what would you even put in there that you wouldn’t want new/random people to see? <- that’s a link btw

Huh. Not sure what it would be useful for, but I was kind of excited to see what it was and/or how it might be used.
Maybe just off topic conversation we don’t want cluttering up the main form, and still want accessible without a large group pm. I’m not sure.
(Maybe Discourse will send us digital coffee and pastries!)

I guess we may never know what awaits us in the TL3 lounge…

lol, I cant get regular status yet because I missed a few days

Oof I fell short a couple of days too xD

I was here every day and I don’t have it…

For reference, here are the criteria for TL3 from the discourse blog:

To get to trust level 3, in the last 100 days…

  • Must have visited at least 50% of days
  • Must have replied to at least 10 different topics
  • Of topics created in the last 100 days, must have viewed 25% (capped at 500)
  • Of posts created in the last 100 days, must have read 25% (capped at 20k)
  • Must have received 20 likes, and given 30 likes.*
  • Must not have received more than 5 spam or offensive flags (with unique posts and unique users for each, confirmed by a moderator)
  • Must not have been suspended or silenced

Never mind apparently I am one. I just didn’t get a notification

Regulars receive a special ‘Regular’ badge.

You do not have this badge.

You can always definitively check your trust level in Badges.

yeah I have the badge, just didn’t get the notification for whatever reason

Will it be possible to get to TL4?

Doubtful. Seems too powerful

I need more POWER

The challenge you have is to keep TL3.

Looking at the docs, TL4 is only given out manually by staff. I think TL3 is enough for automatic promotion anyway.

Only by manual staff promotion (or perhaps an election system which Discourse hasn’t implemented yet).

I predict it will likely happen eventually, based partly on a few things that were mentioned when the transition was announced.

Full Details on TL4

Trust Level 4 — Leader

Leaders are regulars who have been around forever and seen everything. They set a positive example for the community through their actions and their posts. If you need advice, these are the folks you turn to first, and they’ve earned the highest level of community trust, such that they are almost moderators within the community already.

Get to trust level 4 by…

  • Manual promotion by staff only
  • (Possibly via a to-be-developed election system in the future)

Users at trust level 4 can…

  • Edit all posts
  • Pin/unpin topic
  • Close topics
  • Archive topics
  • Make topics unlisted
  • Split and merge topics
  • Reset topic bump date
  • Daily like limit increased by 3×
  • Any TL4 flag cast on any post immediately takes effect and hides the target post

We believe this trust system has been a success so far, as it leads to stronger, more sustainable communities by carefully empowering members, regulars, and leaders to curate and lead their own communities. But like everything else in Discourse, the trust system is evolving over time as we gain more experience with more communities. We’ll continue to update this post with any changes.

(I got this from the same blog post that @dhmmjoph linked to earlier, which includes a list of all the Trust Levels, their requirements, and the abilities they give you.
