lol it was a joke (20 char)
Thanks for that video. I was not familiar with that site, the Chinese Youtube I suppose? Also interested to see that they have not developed some yet unseen meta to accomplish this with.
I think that it is the Chinese equivalent to YouTube:
OK, but please remember that tone does not carry through text without things like /s or emojis. Also, please donāt clutter up forums that have the VEX IQ Challenge Discussion and VIQC Rise Above (2020-2021 Game) tags, because they are meant for discussion, not for jokes and sarcasm.
Did you ever get your Ferris wheel working? I have been anxiously awaiting a picture.
Yeah, sorry i have not done anything on it for a while. I wanna qualify for states before finishing it.
Why is this? Wouldnāt it be better to build it and see if it works better than anything else out there and then make the decision of what youāre going to run at states? IMO finishing your robot after youāve qualified for states and not even considering other designs is putting all your eggs in one basket. I am just asking out of curiosity, not as a criticism.
O rings arenāt very useful or competition legal in vrc or vexiq, so you probably wonāt get any takers. I suggest you try your luck advertising your O rings on different forums.
Sorry the first comp is next week so i dont wanna do anything else other than hone my code and driving.
They may have been looking for STEM topics?
Cool, how about send a picture of how far you did get on your Ferris Wheel design so we can get the gist of where you are heading.
Here is what @Kajunii42 posted earlier, but Iād also like to see how far heās gotten since then, and what heās running at his comp next week. Heās been hinting that the Ferris wheel will be better than anything else out there so far, so Iām excited to see it if that is the case.
sorry i am at school right now, will post pics of what im running at the comp when i get home. It is pretty much a sand storm with some minor add ons like an h-drive and different brain placement.
This is what Iām running next Saturday
Have you considered a Tower Takeover style bot? A tray seems like it would be pretty efficient for this game.
Yeah⦠youād think⦠Tray Bot concept for rise above
Is that supposed to imply that itās a bad idea? Thereās a good chance Iām wrong about this since I donāt do IQ, but the only concern other than building complexity I saw in that thread is that it would struggle to stack a riser on top of a pre-existing stack. We thought this would be important in TT but it ended up not being relevant at all because it was not only difficult but slower than just catching the stack in your tray and re-stacking it after grabbing more cubes.
A tower takeover bot would be pretty efficient, but the only problems would be the intakes (need to flip risers) and the tray flipout (a full stack of 3 risers is 26 inches long, so Iām guessing that teams will have 3 stage trays). Iām interested to see if people will use this design this season.
You could just mount them higher so they grab the risers from the middle instead of the bottom.
No, TT bots with 2 stage trays could hold 7 cubes which is 38.5" and over twice the length of the 18" starting size. The starting size for IQ is 15", so they should be able to make a 2 stage tray that is at least 26" long, and if a slider is feasible with IQ parts they wouldnāt even need a deploy.
