Should I use 5.5V motors or 11V Motors?

Hey, I was wondering if I should use the 11 volt motors for more power, or if go with 5.5 volt motors so I can have more of them on my robot. Any advice?

It sounds like you are confusing the 5.5W motor with the old cortex 393 motor (with a green end cap). The 5.5W motor was released a couple of years ago, it just has not been competition legal before, here’s a post with pictures comparing them.

6 Motor Drive Train With 2 5.5w Motors?

I want to have a 6 motor drive train but I am using 3 motors for my intake/flywheel. Using 2 5.5w motors in the drivetrain would keep me under the 88w limit but im worried about how the 5.5w motors will work with the 11w motors. My questions are: -What is the rpm of 5.5w motors? -Would the 5.5w motors work cooperatively with the 11w motors in the drive train (gears are connecting all 6 wheels)? -Would using this method make it a “5” motor drive train?

Also, I hate to nitpick – but I am going to – the motors are both 12 Volt motors, but one draws 5.5 Watts and the other 11 Watts.

It depends on what you’re using them for. I’m using six 11W motors on my drivetrain, one 11W motor on my catapult, and two 5.5W motors for the intake. If you can use the 11W motors for something, you should. If you need more small mechanisms, you can split them up with 5.5W motors. Good luck designing!
