Looks like we can’t entirely rely on the chains to stop the discs from going to the other side. Even though it was about a 90% success rate, still not that good. Is there a way to graph the discs trajectory while taking into account the chains you think?
The graphing tool shows a picture of the goal as a visual representation. You could setup either the launch angle or velocity to change depending on the robot’s position and speed such that the disc will hit into the post as low as possible. I think the ideal accurate trajectory is arcing directly into the basket with the chains to dampen the shot but not hitting too high on the chains.
I know this topic has not been used in a while, but for the sake of not creating a new topic, I will just post this here. I finally got around to making a video explaining how the flight of a disc can be modeled, and my program for doing it. So here it is.
