Stupidest thing you've done in VEX

Don’t worry. Last year in star struck, we loaded our bot with rubber banded tension so much that we gradually bent and snapped a high strength axle, twice.

2 years ago today my team a I showed up to robotics practice same as always except for this day our coach had not arrived yet so we stood around talking and planning what we need to do to the robot. While talking we realized that our new shipment of plexiglass (shatterproof lexan) had arrived they would come in 6ft by 6ft sheets. The previous day it had snowed 2 and a half feet so one thing led to another. Next thing I know we are trying to move a 6 foot sheet of plexiglass from the 2nd floor of our school to the 1st then out the side door. We some how make it this far without alerting any teachers. We then proceeded to climb the biggest hill on our schools propertie. We were planning on using the plexiglass as a sled that my 3 other teammates and I were going to ride it down the hill (at the time any kids caught sliding down the hill week days from 6am to 5pm would be suspended 4 students had been suspended this year for doing this ) The time was 3:20 we all climbed on the plexiglass and griped the sides we pushed off and began moving our speed picked up quickly my memory kind of blurres at this point all I know is that we hit a bump and we all went flying. The aftermath entailed the 4 of us being scattered apart laying in the snow at the bottom of the hill and the plexiglass was shattered. Now we had to brush the snow off of ourselves and get out of sight before we were scene by a teacher. We began heading back to the school when our vice principal was walking by there was nowhere to hide we thought that we were caught for sure then one of my teammates suggested to hide in this 4 foot snow drift so without hesitation we dove in and buried ourselves and waited for her to pass. Once she passed we made our way back into the school and lugged the shattered plexiglass back up to the 2nd floor and into our robotics room. In the time that all of this occurred our coach still hadn’t arrived and when he did we told him that the plexiglass arrived this way. So we were home free we had an exhilarating ride and didn’t get caught.

Until the next day when they checked the cameras and the 4 of us got suspended for 3 days, but it was worth it.

oh.

We had a member who tried took another team’s box as we were leaving a comp. When we realize he brought an extra box we made him put it back and if they realize and get mad we’ll put all the blame on him. He made a run for it to get that box back before they could find out that it was gone.

Our team last year was having problems with friction so we turned to non aerosol based lubricant and the first thought in our main engineers mind was wheel bearing grease. As we found out, wheel bearing grease only lubricates at extremely high temps and when it was room temperature it was glue. We literally glued our gears in our lift together as well as the h-lift it self for star struck and ended up rebuilding our whole bit the night before a tournament

Now that’s a bit of an oof

We never let him off the hook

Using a chain bar for a Mogo… Didn’t work then, doesn’t work now.

I think if you build it just right you can get it to work but that it a lot of work

I’ve seen it work, just don’t remember the robot it was on

was it the Nonexsistence thier team# is 000000

%between% it was probably this ri3d

Yep that’s it! It just takes a little bit of work to make it work (but what doesn’t)
@BBBcube3.14 @Plasma

I meant the chain bar that stacks cones lol. Attaching a passive intake on that that would scoop up the cones. The mogo is too heavy for that.

Just last Saturday, my team got picked for one of the top alliances. That same day just so happened to be the only day that I could stop by my eye doctor’s to pick up my glasses so I decided to risk the tourney and leave just before the last elimination match to go get them. Apparently for the ten minutes that I was gone my entire alliance came seconds to getting disqualified. At the end of the day we ended up winning the entire tournament resulting in my first trip to state. So now my VEX motto is to “risk it all to win it all” (of course I don’t take it to heart)

I got a chainbar to work for Mogo? Except we screwed up and mounted the bottom axle through two bearings about 1/2 holes apart…

rip

LOL, the last time it snowed 2 and a half feet in MD we didn’t have school for a week…

There are no such thing as mistakes, Just happy little accidents.

I can in fact confirm this.
