Update: 2020 VEX Robotics World Championship is Canceled

Let’s just say it was Hypothesis and Statistics. HAMSTERS was gonna be epic.

I was waiting to reply to this until the initial shock wore off but now that I’ve had more time to process, I want to say thank you to RECF and VEX and everyone associated, as well as all of the teams that worked as hard as they could this year. This year was my first full year in vex and I ended up spending most of the season as head builder, driver, and team captain on a team of two students that actively participated (I was one of them). While I’m not going to say that I would recommend doing this (in fact, I very much advise against it, especially as a first year), this year has taught me so much more than I ever thought it would and I know that I have a lot more that I’ll be able to learn throughout the rest of my vex career. Vex allowed me to find a community and create a family type of bond with other members of my school’s club and I will forever be grateful for this. While I did not actually qualify for worlds this year, my sister team did and my team was planning on going with them. I am aware that I can’t fully understand the disappointment that most teams are going through right now, but I do know what it’s like to work hard and have things fall through (things like worlds for example) and I feel so bad for teams that aren’t able to go. Over this year, I managed to create relationships with other teams throughout my state, several of which qualified, and I would also like to say thank you to them. Without the other teams in my state, Vex would be nothing like it is.
Basically, just thank you to anyone and everyone that participated in vex this year and anyone and everyone who made this season the best that it could be, even though it got cut short. It’s been a great year and I’m looking forward to next season.

Just to give my opinion, I don’t think the RECF will do anything regarding awards or a winner even simply because from a logistical standpoint is a very hard thing to do, and in some cases may seem bias for certain awards and whatnot.

I would like to know too! Do they change them every year? I’ve only been to VEX Worlds once in IQ.

Nope, they’re the same every year, but they added more slots this year, and were gonna add more divisions.

Let’s raise our wristbands in honor of VEX WORLDS

Rip VEX Worlds 2020.

This would have been year 10 for me. Badges used to be given out, stopped after 2017 I think. I guess I lost a couple

I lost all of mine, and I started going in 2013.

I wonder if they will send the pins out to teams who qualified. I really liked the pins, I have my 2018 and 2019 ones and was really looking forward to getting the 2020 one.

You didn’t qual, as far as I know.

Wait, there’s a 2018 one? How did I miss it? :open_mouth:

Yeah. Here’s the ones that I got.

I didn’t even know there were pins for the last couple of years, not sure how I missed that.

How did I miss 2018??
I’m very sad now.
VEX should sell the pins. I would definitely buy them.

Yeah, they were in the welcome bags that you get when you go. I really like them.

Eh, I don’t know, maybe for this season considering the circumstances, but I like the fact that you need to earn them to get them.
Now game specific pins would be cool though, like for ITZ, a cone, or TP, a flag, and for tower takeover a cube. I would definitely buy those.

Ah. I didn’t compete at Worlds that year. Only volunteered.

Volunteering should absolutely count for the purposes of pins. Without volunteers there wouldn’t be Worlds! Volunteering is part of giving back to the community. Hugely important and thank you for taking the time to do that!

I wonder if letterman patches will be available.
