Using two cortexes on one robot

Has anyone been able to use two cortexes on one Robot so that they can communicate with each other? If so how were you able to have them communicate back and forth to each other if for example I have a bump switch connected to one cortex and a motor connected to another cortex and that bump switch will be able to make the motor on the other cortex start.

UART serial connection would be your best bet. You could pass all sorts of data then and not just signal on/off.

Could you hook two digital ports and treat it like an LED? Have one think it is an LED and one think it is a button? This may be slightly dangerous. I am not sure how much current would be sent over the line. Maybe @jpearman could chime in to tell us we will blow up a Cortex or not.
