2024-2024 Vex Iq OverCharge. This king of the hill style game is played on a field that features 4 zones. The longer the alliance is capabale of keeping the scoring elements inside a rotating zone, the more point values each scoring element will have. Robots have a period of 45 seconds to remove 15 scoring elements worth 1 point each from the supply zone. A fully cleared zone is worth 15 points and every second of an element being in one of the 4 zones icnreases the value by 2 points. In the last 10 seconds of the game. The robots must work together to spin a field element as many times as possible. If in the 10 seconds they get more than 25 rotations, they will have achieved āoverchargeā
Donāt think weāre going to have elevation again, but who know? Cool idea though.
Hey dud hate to break your heart but I sincerely doubt that we are going to get a water game. O% percent of vex electronics would survive in water. Also it seems like that would make it extremely complicated. Though it would be cool.
it would be fun to make sort of a battle bots thing though
Yeah, but imagine ālosingā (you can imagine what that looks like) a quals match and then having another one in 15 minutes.
I like this⦠(actually, this is what freshie me thought when VEX announced āover underā, as I thought there would be some overhead platform for robots to climb on)
They should make a game where there are no scoring objects; the only objective is to flip the other robots or pin them for a set amount of time.
good point, most teams would have their bots be destroyed
That is really interesting, but what happens if the robot falls off and then hits another robot.
Yeah, water game is just a meme
I think you missed the joke-
I didnāt really think of that. I guess it could be like vex IQ where one drive team member could go retrieve it and place it in the starting tile.
Donāt forget
or
as well as
really worried itās going to be another game with a lengthy reset like spin up. after lining up all the discs last year, thatās something i never want to relive again.
oh okay. Yeah I tend to miss those.
The greatest 2 minutes in robotics has arrived. We present to you VEX Piano and Forte. It is played on a 12 by 12 field and is a game in which you pick up oval like notes and put them onto your alliance goals which are on a seesaw like mechanism and to balance it you have to have an equal number of notes on each goal. There is also a center piece that if you control during auton you get 30 points as an auton bonus. In the corners of the field are match loading zones.
FRC Crescendo?? Is that you beneath that mustache?
But with the mentioning of AprilTags and identifieable game objects for the new vision sensor, next yearās game objects may have AprilTags on then (so no donuts, but a nice solid object)
Honestly, by what I see by some of the āteasersā on the forum, they suspect itās gonna be something like Tower Takeover, Skyrise, or In The Zone for V5. But for Vex IQā¦ā¦I donāt know.
Here is my suspitions/thoughts.
VEX VRC Catastrophe
VEX VRC Catastrophe is played on a 12x12 foot field, with 2 alliances. One Red, and One Blue. Made up of 2 teams each. The primary game object is 6 1 ft by 1 in tubes. And 2 goal posts to put them on. And 4 mobile goals. Each at different heights. Each alliance will have 15 match loads and each robots will have 2 preloads at the start of the match. 23 game objects in total. The match will start with a 15 second auton period, where robots will move across the field to score as much tubes as they can. If a alliance team can move 1 mobile goal to their side of the field, they get auton win point. At the end of the auton the alliances will be scored, based on what they done. Then the driving period begins, robots will have 1:45 to drive around the field and score as much tubes as they can. At the end of the match, alliances will be scored, based on what they scored. Tubes with the proper alliance color that is scored on a mobile goal, will recive 2 points for each scored on a mobile goal. 5 points will be awarded for each alliance tube scored on a goal post. No hanging will be introduced in this game.
Penalties -
- If a robot is pinning another robot, they can not hold them for over 5 seconds.
- If a robot is tipped over, the drive is NOT allowed to reposition it, until the match is over.
- if there is a field defect, the referre is allowed to stop the match to fix it.
The games often vary in theme, objectives, and challenges to keep the competition fresh and engaging for participants. VEX Robotics also considers feedback from the robotics community and aims to design games that are both exciting and educational, encouraging students to explore STEM concepts and develop problem-solving skills. ![]()
Iām praying it will be a stacking game such as tipping point. I want a more open field such as tipping point/spin-up where you just get to drive around and focus on scoring instead of defensive all the time.
Being able to score in 3-4 ways would be nice, like in Tipping Point with the many different ring ways or the goals being worth different point values.
