What is the worst thing that happened to you during a competition?

Dude could’ve got DQ’ed for a G1 violation if he hadn’t already :skull:

mind you he got dq’d because over 5 balls got thrown out the field

Oh wow. Never seen a quit this bad before.

Worst thing that happened to me was at our county competition, I was paired with a team from my school. One of their motors died in the first match (Best of 3), and so we trusted a fellow student to grab a new motor. They grabbed the one motor that didn’t work (was clearly away from the others). We lost the finals and placed 4th overall.

At worlds my teammate dropped our robot right before a match. We were able to fix it but our alliance partner wasn’t very happy

oh wow, that’s not fun

The worst drop I’ve ever had is dropping our brand new controller 30 minutes after we opened it. I can’t imagine dropping your robot at the biggest stage possible.

Once that I remember was an opposing team literally doing everything in there power to get us and literally there sister team DQ’ed while we were literally at the queuing tables when the match had not even started. It was a fun match where they literally tried to get us disqualified with every rule in the book. Thankfully the judges were having none of it and we won in a landslide!

Did you at leastwin the match?

I remember I was at a competition, and our sister team called me over to help them with some coding thing, and while I was standing at their pit, their controller slipped off the table. Luckily, I was able to see it begin to fall and I dove and caught it.
I’m not even kidding.

Tell me you went on to win. I’ve slid like I’m going to home plate just to save screwdrivers and stuff before lol.

We had our robot, stopped working in the last 5 minutes before our finals! MY team mate, was CRASHING OUT , no one dared to go near him, He WAS HOGGING IT! IT WAS TERRIBLE!!!

That is relatable to someone on our team.

This one seems pretty light compared to some others, but at my first tournament way back in 6th grade during the national anthem, I dropped the controller; it wasn’t damaged, but it was so loud. and my entire team gave me a death glare lol

Also, the day before a big tournament, the builder on our team took the robot home to hopefully fix it as well as complete it. She stays up until 4 a.m. working on this hunk of metal. Anyway… she was so tired and sleep-deprived by this time that she dropped a big ole wrench onto the brain and completely shattered it. One of our coaches had to drive 30 minutes to our school to get a replacement because nobody had the idea to bring an extra.

I love robotics

me and my team’s robot was to big and it we had to take apart the entire robot but still made it to finals comp my team # is 77431f

Over under state champion elims. Our robot was hanging on the horizontal bar but our solenoid broke causing our wing to activate which tocuhed the wall and we lost 122-110.

Not me, but…

At worlds last year a herobot pulled out our battery cable at the start of a match. That year we were 95332A, but we changed to 6756X this season.

Worst of all that was our last battery cable that we had, so we had to purchase another one.

We had an alliance that just finished their robot right before a match and has a limping drivetrain and a frame that was barely holding on. They cannot score and also blocked us from doing so and literally gave the opposing team free points. Worst of all, when it was time to park, they pushed our robot out of the parking zone and while doing so their robot broke and just the pieces just piled up around the area so neither of us could get in. We lost like 40-ish to 12.
