Which is a downer. The best part of worlds is witnessing teams compete from around the country. It isn’t really a world competition if teams from around the globe aren’t able to come, not able to compete.
I agree and I wish this was considered however its an unprecedented event, it was heartbreaking letting my teams know they couldn’t go, I wouldn’t want to be in Dan’s shoes with the enormity of the decision/s he needs to make.

update: we just received news that our district is prohibiting out of district travel for commercial vehicles (we were going to use our school district vans). our district will not allow us to take our robots personally so we will sadly be unable to attend create us.
A lot of teams are ending up in exactly that some position, it sucks.
Our IL state championship got cancelled that was planned for this Friday, so 15 more open spots to worlds I guess.
california LA states is cancelled as well.
I think in US states where the championships are cancelled the invites will be from the state skills list. At least, that’s what I think is happening in Massachusetts/Connecticut/RI where the regional was cancelled…
I believe that is the likely scenario. Note that Middle School Championship was held earlier (Feb 21-22)… all the teams that qualified to Worlds appear as registered.
Today our school sent out a survey asking what technology we have at home could be switching to online classes.
It is official VEX LA and Bakersfield State Championship is canceled…
