2025-26 VEX V5 Robotics Competition Game: Push Back

Since the game manual hasn’t been posted yet what is everyone’s predictions on rules and the size limit for the robot

I’m sure they will add a possession limit into the game especially after the first few events go live

I’d assume you get 4 tiles with that printed as part of the game elements. Makes me think it would be cool to get tiles with double stripes as well.

There is this cool boat lift in Scotland (Falkirk Wheel) which would be an interesting design. Sorta like a revolver but with an opening both at the height of the high goals and the low goal.

My guess is that the four plates will be used for the high goals on each side of the field and the center structure use small round plates like in the past…

How much slower do you think the drive speed will be? Cuz I just finished developing a ~60 in/sec drive for the 4in wheels we have and it would suck if it’s not viable for this game.

De-scoring in this game will be crazy. It doesn’t look as bad a high stakes thankfully.

For normal VRC, meta is probably gonna be a tube-like hopper mounted on a TT-esque tilter, with TT style side intakes. Mecanum and X-drive are gonna be pretty useful this year tho, nice choice by GDC in my opinion.

If anyone has seen @9MotorGang’s thoughts on the reveal video, he makes a good point about how flimsy the goals look. Does anyone think they will break?

btw, a Truncated Cuboctahedron is what my research tells me the 3D shape is actually called lol.

I saw a lot of >70 in/sec drives this year, I guess drives will hover around 60-65 this year.
So yours will be quite viable based on my predictions (though you should expect this to change).

Why do you think so? Doesn’t seem self evident to me.

If you look at the field as Tyler demo’s it, that plastic is thick. I was worried watching the animation, but seeing the real ones made it more clear. The tipping point balance was thinner, and none broke in my area. So, fingers crossed.

Is the design in the middle of the field relevant to the autonomous period? From a bird’s eye view it looks complicated to add to already existing fields, but the positioning seems important.

The official name for them is “blocks”

Depending on what the meta design ends up being, strafing could be very helpful for lining up to intake and score. Kinda like this year’s first tech challenge game, where it was needed to pick up the right colored block easily.

Keep in mind that would make driving really annoying. You could tip yourself easier.
