Any overunder robot/strategy ideas

What do y’all think about a “cata-claw”? Basically a spin up catapult that has a claw attached to the end of it. This is so you can grab a match load with the claw, throw it to your alliance’s offensive zone, retract the catapult, and repeat. Plus it will eliminate the need for an intake system.

So basically, the claw would replace an intake?

Check out Star Struck - quite many of the teams that did a reverse dump actually included a “catapult” to it.

Thank you, I’ll keep that in mind.

A DR4B needs to both fit under 11.5 inches and be relatively thin for it to be vey helpful. In order for it to fit it would be shrunken down quite a bit and can barely reach the top of the elevation pole. It can reach, but barely and it takes space from other mechanisms.
It would be amazing if someone can pull it off effectively, but it is a difficult mechanism to have for this competition.

4 bar would need to be sized down to fit under the elevation poles and it wouldn’t reach far enough for the top of the elevation pole.

The offensive zone gives 2 points per triball so they could still score if they wanted to. You cant expand more than 36’’ and the goal is 39’’ so you would need to be able to strafe. You can also score inside the goal through the sides so you would need a way to prevent them from going to the side. Most robots would be using lifts and claws for elevation points or have spots where they could pick up teammates for buddy climb. As it is now legal for 5 seconds to pick up an opponet robot and most robots will be able to, there is a high chance that an opponet will get fed up with you gaurding their goal and just pick your robot up and move it.

protobot is amazing but it is in it’s beta phases and has a ton of kinks.
If you are experienced in cadding with fusion do that, otherwise protobot is the way to go.

I see. One debate I have been having with some people has been is it even worth double zoning? This is important because it is both strategy and robot restraints. Because the passages have a bar over at 12 in some people are saying your robot should be able to fit under that, but what is the benefit of double zoning? You can’t even access match loads and the only thing I can think of it would be easier for 2 robots to push into the goal than 1, herding the balls. What is your opinion on this?

why does it have to fit under 11.5 inches, the limit is 18 inches

To fit underneath the elevation pole I guess

If you want to cross over to the other side of the field without climbing the center barrier you must go under the horizontal elevation bar, which has a height of ~11.5”

the quote specifically says plowing is NOT considered possession

Honestly the only reason I can see for going under the horizontal elevation bar instead of building a robot that can drive over the center barrier is for programming skills. If you want to do well in skills and matches it’s going to be beneficial to have a robot that can go both over the center barrier and under the horizontal elevation bar.

I was thinking a cascade lift might work because I believe they had one in the game unveil robot. Would a cascade lift even be viable? I’ve never built or used one before.

You should build a prototype and to some testing to see if a cascade lift is viable!

u go like a super light 8m pushbot, and tell ur alliance to carry u to climb

This is not stricly true. I’ve built a dr4b useing only one motor and during TT I knew a team that also had a dr4b that could lift a lot.

does flywheel work on triballs
