Cad Help. I couldn't open the STEP file downloaded from vex offical website

I finished my collage entrance exams. So I start to cad my bot for the new season. But I couldn’t open the field cad, downloaded from here.
I use soildworks, and it takes forever to load this STEP file. What’s worse, soildworks never made it to successfully open the file and alway cashed in the end.
I do believe it is due to the bad performance of my old computer. So, is there anything I could do to solve this problem? I trid to google it, but in vain.

Onshape has different tabs that load different, smaller aspects of the model seperately. @Giovanni_7282R created a simplified CAD file here for slower internet speeds.

You can download the .step files off of the tabs by right-clicking them and selecting thay option, then load them into solidworks.

I want to 3d print a mobile goal since I don’t want to spend $500+ for the kit. I can’t seem to find a model and mobile goals arent sold separately.

Well, to my opinion, it is the best to spend money. Because the mobile goal has a rubber top.I don’t think there is any way to 3d print it

@1810T-Colby made a simplified mobile goal! I printed one, it seems to work well

See their forum post for the files, all you need is a few screws/nylocks, and a tube

Download the field model and save the Mobile goal. That’s what I did for my friend who has a 3d printer.

I’m thinking of a substitute.

Some flexible filaments for 3D printing do exist. I printed the rubber top out of TPU and, granted it is a little bit stiffer and harder to put rings on than I can see in videos, it does still allow the ring to fit over it with a bit of pressure.

You might be able to print it out of TPU if you have some. It tends to have a bit of flexibility and I’ve heard of other teams doing it. I don’t have any experience in printing TPU but from my understanding it might be a little more difficult than regular prints.
