Qe have a 99% hook intake. We also have a redirect wall stake mech. However i see the point of the hood. Our first robot was a hood but we switched with better results. We just won a tournament with it.
personally i went hook
Since it is Mid-Season, my opipion is that hood is better.
After speedway, it definitively seems that hook lady brown is the meta right now.
I think we will be seeing more and more bots similar to 229v Aceās later in the season. My team and 2 others at my school are currently working on one like Aceās and I think more are doing the same
like aceās old robot or their new robot?
No hate or anything but a kiwi drive is very unique so Iām just wondering why you chose it
There new robot, hook with lady brown.
Do we have to use flex wheels intake for hood? My team is doing hood but we donāt have any flex wheels and we donāt want to build a 1st stage intake.
You donāt need to use flex wheels but they are the best overall. An alternative would be a rubber band intake or running tank treads the entire lengthy of the intake.
just wanted to try it. it didnāt ever work very well (and was out of size) but it was a cool build.
Not on topic but can you tell me how you put C-channels directly on top of the C-channels on the drivetrain?
I just used screws.
But seriously I used a 0.5 in spacer in between my channel pieces for gearing spacing but otherwise i just put a screw going through each channel and put a lock nut on there to keep it secure.
for anyone wondering, we switched to hood. works much, much, MUCH better.
does your goal have to be perfectly clamped? that is the main disadvantage of hood, we just made a new hook robot and we realized that most of the good wall stakes mechs are only compatible with hook.
What do you mean by perfectly clamped?
Hook is easier to build. When building a hood intake, we dealt with a lot of friction when holding a ring within the intake. Once rebuilding and changing our design to hood, we found that the intake is much faster, reliable for scoring on mobile goals, and can easily get the rings fully onto the mobile goal, rather than barely onto the goal.
Actually with hooks I found it needs to be clamped a certain way, of course aligners can make this easier. With hood it also needs to be relatively secure, but we had a lot more wiggle room.
Most of the good wall stakes mechs are hook designs, but not all.
