Honestly to solve your problem do 4 holes between instead of 3
Don’t waste time modifying wheels
You can do 3 holes without doing this but if you want 2-1 hole wide then this idea or just use direct drive which would make more sense
please tell me you’re joking about this.
if not, I highly advise you to learn more about proper ways to build a robot.
if you’re concerned about the width of your robot, cutting wheels in half and spinning them with flaps is about the worst way you could slim your robot down. just make it narrower. You shouldn’t ever want to go thinner than 25 holes, and you can do that easily with a very standard drive.
Also if you want to have a different ratio, just change the cartridge inside the motor
Actually cutting omnis in half for Tracking wheels can be effective if your tight on space but if you CAD/plan at all you shouldn’t have to do this
that’s different, those wheels aren’t going to be supporting any weight or transferring any power.
It is not worth it. Why would you want a 1 hole drive instead of having a little more space and fitting everything you need
How big do you want your drive
just be sane and use gears/sprockets to actually get a proper connection between your wheels and your motors.
If you read the title it says to use those wheels for TRACKING, not drive wheels
Yeaa…
But you coudl if you realy wanted tooo
This is for tracking wheels which support no load and transfer no power, if you do this with your actual wheels you will have a whole lot of problems. And this on top of using flaps to spin your wheels, I’d be surprised if your robot could move at all tbh.
Same could be said about using elmer’s glue when making a tree house. Its completely possible, but not something you should do.
An actual viable option is to drill out the holes so that there is a little more spacing, and then fit washers, wheel and 60T gear in a 3 hole gap. Watch 4411s Turning Point Robot Explained to see the actual drivetrain.

As long as you plan it out like a normal person but for an absurd task it could work
if you really want to have a 3 hole wide gap for your wheels and gears, you can do it easily with 3.25" omnis and low strength gears. 3.25" omnis are thinner than the 4" ones so you can get a more narrow gearbox.
there is no need and no viable way to go below 3 holes.
You could use beveled gears on the motor to have them vertical to save even more space
I don’t quite get it. You are asking us for help, and our help is in telling you to not cause possible damage to your robot by building structurally. If you don’t wish to ask for justification (which I already feel has been accurately provided) and are determined to use your own design, don’t respond to this thread. I know this is coming off as harsh but we are only trying to help. There is no reason you should be having to even think of shaving wheels to get them to fit in a 3-hole space. And before you use the tracking wheel example, a tracking wheel is monumentally different from a drive wheel.
Also,
won’t save you space in terms of drivetrain thickness. It weakens your overall power output and makes a simple system complex and larger.
