Iq cycle page help!

Hi @rooboo, this is a brilliant start! I am an IQ notebooker (have been for 3 years), and do think I have some suggestions. Alas, I understand the pain it may bring to not know what to add.

I greatly agree with what 71300fficial has said; those changes will be essential to improving the quality of your notebook. (Side note: Especially the “ughhhhh”, please aim to sound professional)

First, I’d suggest you to check out other forum threads about notebook improvements:

Alas there’s too many topics, so I just included some of the most recent or best ones. :frowning:

Some of these threads actually have award-winning examples included. I recommend you check those out! (Also btw these links may be for V5 but the same notebooking concepts follow)

Specific reccommendations on that page will be:

  1. Detail what steps you actually took to achieve your goals. Judges don’t just want the final product - they want to hear about how you achieved it.
  2. Describe what happened AFTER you achieved your goals.
  3. Maybe detail “next steps”, i.e. what you plan on doing next (whether it be driving or changing the claw).
  4. “Build the Backlash” sounds a bit too vague - you might want to divide entries into daily or weekly entries, and detail what you did each practice. E.g. you could put the goal for week 1 of October as “Finish the claw”, week 2 “attach claw to chassis”, and so forth.
  5. The goals could seem redundant. You may want to merge number 1 and 2. And, of course you want to score points! Detail a specific amount of points, like 91.

Other than that, check out the REC Library section for judging and notebooking. ALWAYS look at the rubric.

Oh, and lastly: I understand your concern about there being only high school V5 notebooking tips, but the idea is the same, and many IQ teams actually take inspiration ffrom V5 teams. Unlike building (beams to C channels) or programming, IQ and V5 are pretty much very similar in notebooking. Please don’t let the program label limit you from checking out the brilliant resources on the forums.

Good luck! If you have any other questions, LMK.
