Is flywheel meta?

is flywheel meta? or is cata?

here is a take from someone who has used both this season. First and foremost most teams use cata, up until late october it would be an understatement to say that most teams use cata as nearly all teams competing at a remotely high level used cata. Since late october however flywheel has been on the rise as it can provide high arcs arcs, is easy to build, and has higher speed than cata. You lose a bit of shot precision from skills but that is is the biggest drawback. We are currently flywheel and our last tournement we made it to the finals and lost in a somewhat close match to 338a. I can send the video of that match later if you would like to see it as i think it showcases well how each option deal with blockers. We are currently building a flystick design(creatively as it is a flywheel on a really tall stick). Overall is mostly about preference and what you think you can build and how it fits with the rest of your bot. If you have any other questions, especially about flywheel I can likly answer them.

Honestly puncher is the meta

Fly wheel, cata, puncher doesn’t matter. Anchoring to the match load bar is the meta.

There have been a lot of posts/polls on this that show the general consensus of the forums if you searched them up, and we could have this conversation in one of them. Here are some of them:

The forum seems to be in favor of catapults/slappers.

That was true but I’ve seen a lot more flywheels in recent weeks because of the changes to the matchloading rules. Now with clamping to the match load bar allowed I think match loading is going to look different.

I don’t necessarily know, but cata is slower but consistent with its shots. Flywheels are fast but very inconsistent with where they launch to.

It really depends on the team’s strategy. I know a lot of people prefer punching or cata for skills, and flywheel users seem to prioritize competitive matches, although they each will work in either case.

I used a flywheel and a cata but heres the thing a flywheel is how fast you can load but if you do not practice than it will be inacurate but a cata can get super fast and it is always acurate right now my team has a flywheel and it has been working real good my opinnion try out both in different comps to see wich ones you like

The flywheel and cata are good for different things. Flywheel is good for matches , while cata is good for skills.

My team uses a flystick and it is fantastic for matches. It still works in skills but isn’t very consistent.

You need to practice.
