AHA THIS IS WHAT I LIVE FOR! my team is designing a dummy excessive angle adjustment using pistons, weāre gonna try to literally lob discs on top of other discs
Rollers may only be 40pt total, but since youāre taking it away from the other team, it means an 80pt swing, so I feel like possession of the rollers is going to be very important as well
I feel like at the strat would be
0:20 - go to a roller
0:15 - change that roller
0:10 drop the string
0:09 run to the roller on the other side of the field
0:05 change that roller
0:02 run away
0:00 win the match
you could prob hit 10-12 tiles with string and max 2 roller for 56pt total in 20 sec
IMO it would be 1:20 start fighting over low goals, 0:30 rollers, 0:05 string.
I feel like since people are discussing that high goals can only fit like 15 discs, that the early game will be filling up goals with discs, like the first 30 secs, maybe including auton.
Then 1:00 to 00:20 will be either trying to block opponents from scoring, pushing discs into low goal, or roller possession
Then 0:20 to 0:10 will be trying to push other bots into a corner to prepare for endgame
Endgame, some trapping of bots since itās legal, and some bots expand.
As an aside, I wonder what happens if you start to trap at 0:15, since trapping has a 5s countdown, by the time it ends, itās into the endgame where trapping is legal, would it be considered a trapping violation or not
alot of times bots can avoid conflict by running away. A team would waste time trapping and could use that time to get rollers
How will string be thrown around the field?
drop it like an anchor.
ā Note to <G15>
Acceptable? Has pushing and shoving ever been unacceptable, in any meaningful sense of the term? Thereās not even a rule against endgame trapping; why would pushing be āunacceptableā?
I want to try using pistons to launch them while spinning, so the centripetal acceleration will make it go farther.
To be honest, because of the value of rollers, I think that there will be alliances that stay covering their roller to secure the 10 points; with 2 bots thats another 20 points.
I donāt believe that this contradicts any of the rules but please let me know if it does.
Edit: sorry for the redundancy, didnt mean to clutter up the thread
And it denies the opponent 20 points.
As everyone has said four times.
another way for expansion is to have a ton of rope facing different directions and have them tie into a screw and a rubber band, put all the rubber bands onto a piston so when it lets go the screws gives it enough weight to go flying and the rope grabs all of the tiles in that direction and have 5/6 different directions thatās a lot of the field
For people that have already started building and received the disks to test, how are 1 motor flywheels doing?
Not very well for long range shots and it can be easily overheated. However I believe it can work fine with lower RPM for short range.
How far can it consistently shoot without overheating in 2 mins?
I havenāt done any building or testing yet.
However, not including skills, I donāt think you need to worry too much about motor overheat/how long itāll last in matches. People have said that the high goals have around a 15-20 disc capacity, and even if itās worst case only one team shooting, you should be able to fill the high goal fairly quickly, and you wonāt need it for the rest of the match
True. As long as we can shoot from a good distance(At least the match load station), for a minute without overheating, it should be fine.
I havenāt done this exact test, but from what I have done, a well built one motor shooter can go about half court. However, I wouldnāt suggest this because the rpm drop is quite a bit bigger than would be good for in a match.
That sucks. I guess weāll have to do a two motor flywheel.
