I would agree, there could be some ambiguity. When I first read R12-g, I took it to mean indicator lights, such as ā€œrobot power onā€ or similar, rather than a device to assist with aim.

Yes, I don’t think any ref or competitor would appreciate having the laser accidentally shown directly into their eyes.

I know this isn’t this year, but multiple vexu teams competed with laser pointers last year.

My team is looking at having a 4m mecanum wheel drive, 1m ratchet which can power intake and roller spinner while also sending some energy to the flywheel, 1m hood / flywheel cover to change our shot direction on the horizontal axis, 1m ratchet which powers the flywheel and indexer, 1m which goes directly into the flywheel ratchet. Pneumatics will be used for the expander. I’m going all out on programing this year and might try to make an automated firing system late season.

Please explain how you plan on indexing and also spinning the flywheel at the same time.

Not at the same time. 1 motor is always powering flywheel, however instead of having a motor only powering the indexer, its on a ratchet so when it spins one way it powers the flywheel, and when it spins the other way it moves the indexer (indexer could then use bands to retract to original position). Still working on the idea but teams did something similar in turning point.

The original idea was to use a differential but that proved to be too complicated and too big for the space it needed to fit.

Won’t the disc get shot out with almost no speed then, since before the flywheel starts up it’ll have no velocity, and when it does start the discs already there waiting to be shot? You could just use a piston tbh it’ll be much more controllable and loads better in every way

Less power same speed. More motors ≠ more velocity.

If the flywheel needs to stop being powered for the disc to go into it, and the flywheel takes some time to get up to speed, then that means it won’t be shot with any strength because by the time the flywheel starts the discs already in there, meaning it immediately gets shot out before going full speed

He’s having 2 motors on the flywheel. 1 always powers it. 1 can have its power diverted to an indexing mechanism. Therefore the flywheel will continue to be spinning throughout the whole shooting process.

Ah, never mind then. Thought it was a 1 motor flywheel. That probably works. Still more complicated then it needs to be, piston will just be better overall

Yeah, but keep in mind not every team have access to pneumatics at the moment. So for some teams, it might be better to design the robot with said limitations in mind.

Our team only has 1 tank and a couple pistons right now and we are probably not going to be able to get more, and we didn’t know if 1 tank would be enough air so we made the decision to have a motor for the indexer. The plan right now is to use the pistons for the expander at endgame.

What is the best bot for this next competition?
I was thinking like a flinger bot that would be able to throw foam rings into the tall goals and then for the endgame spreading out into as many squares as possible for maximum points.

You might want to take a look at some former threads that cover this topic, as I’m sure that there have been several threads discussing certain elements of the robot.
Also, keep in mind that people don’t generally just give you a robot to build here on the forum.
The goal is to be able to provide feedback and possible suggestions while YOU make your own design. Thats what this entire competition is about. Weighing your options, comparing, selecting, adjusting, etc.

You are acting very immature. You are asking some very stupid questions and showing that you have done no research yourself. Stop posting for a while and observe people interact on the forum for a while. Learn what is and isn’t appropriate to ask. Or else you’ll end up banned like @HenryP.
