Prediction:
Several tall towers with wide screw-like threads. They twist around the tower two or three times over its length. Scoring objects are loosely twisted down them like nuts on a bolt. To remove them, they need to be spun as they go up the tower.
Not sure what will be done with them after that.

I think that a system like that would work great with the new Smart Field Controllers because the fields would already have a V5 brain for the game element to plug into. (The only problem is, as you said, static).
