Update: 2020 VEX Robotics Virtual World Championship Celebration

so they are going to simulate tournaments with every robot?

yes. they will simulate everything

so does that mean that people will control their virtual robots or the robots will basically be autonomous and pre programmed and the competition is already predetermined?

I mean…I highly doubt there will be video of robots driving, most likely just match updates and rankings.

Think about how much time it would take to pre program 800 robots, especially when they don’t know your robot design.

If I had to guess, I’d say that they run a match schedule then do “matches.” The match outcome will probably be based on some monte carlo simulation or formula (based on past performance) that determines the probablity of each alliance winning. Say red alliance has a 60% chance and blue alliance has a 40% chance, they run a random number generator to determine which alliance wins. I’m guessing it will all be simulated. At least, that’s what the communications seems to imply. It’s all for fun, no input required from teams. However, since it probably is probabalistic, I’m guessing the outcomes may be quite different than what many will expect. There could be some dark horses that take the lead and some high performing teams that will have a “bad day.” It will be interesting and fun.

ok. Thank you very much @Gear_Geeks and @2775Josh!

Do you think they will be using data from your peak event or season averages? Since everyone would have been at their best at worlds it would make sense to use peak so if a team had a weak early season comp or an event they had major technical issues, it would not show at worlds.

On the robotevents page, the “awards” section still has all the awards, but some have “wc” in parentheses next to it. Does anyone know what that means?

it means world championship. basically saying that it doesn’t qualify for anything (because there is nothing to qualify for) and it is an award at worlds.

Laughs in @anon4126930

I mean all VEX really has to do is build one robot from a team and they’d probably have a robot for 99% of the teams right off the bat.:joy::ok_hand:

#Meta
#Traybot
Lol

The other 1% will be some kind of modified clawbot.

is everyone forgetting about the double reverse

Good point, so we are 95% Tray, 4% Double reverse and 1% clawbot. Any other major designs that are in there?

double reverse traybot

and its probably 85% tray, 10% double reverse, 5% claw/pushbot

Maybe 1 or 2 wall bots somewhere

Right, the wall bots!! I’d forgotten all about them, thanks @ug32166 for the reminder!

Wonder if Virtual Worlds will have all the drama when one of the wall bots does it’s thing and teams jump up and down about being pinned or being denied access to score.

When the wallbots aren’t really wallbots though:

This specifically target the part about when
