What happened at a tournament that makes you annoyed/angry to think about?

It makes me mad that during a competition, our teamates bot was unplugged so we lost to a team of 6th graders and then the next competiton our bot falls over and we lose again in the semifinals ( and we had to go agasint high schools since not enough middle school and high school team decided they didnt want to come. and then the next competition, your battery gets unplugged and can you guess when? semifinals. so we lost… again

The ref told me to put the controller down 4 seconds before the match ended, we had to run autonomous on a field that wasn’t supported in the middle so it was bent in weird places.

Can you elaborate? It sounds interesting but I don’t know what you’re talking about

Losing finales after you thought you won.

and probs won’t get to states :pensive: well time to do this Pneumatics whistle

Sorry, I meant the VIQC field so the tiles/tile edges were not completely attached together because there was no support in the middle.

Mind blowing :exploding_head: Never thought about this strategy

Except for during matches, we have someone stay at our table.

Three things,

First, as you’d probably guess, SG3 b. We were eliminated because the other alliance got a free park after shoving our alliance partner into the platform.

Second, that the base of the goal has to be in the opposing home zone during autonomous to count as interference. A team tried to grab a neutral goal and tipped it over, with the branch well in our part of the field. Our AWP auton ran into it, it got stuck in the left half of our drivetrain, and so we drove onto their side of the field.

Third, our alliance partner had nameplates that weren’t really attached so much as just set on, so they fell off when they fell over during our match. Sine now it was now a 2 v 1 match, I went for a 2 goal robot park at the end. However, their nameplate assembly got stuck in our drivetrain and we couldn’t get up the platform.

And yes there is video footage of all of these.

Would you mind sending me the videos

I’m on team 920B.

amazing score though despite being pinned and 1v2 ed. you should still be proud

considering he came and apologized to us and admitted to it then…

I’m pretty sure the head judge didn’t apologize to you for anything…

I guess its really hard to convince someone unless they were there. :joy:, but it did happen.

What they mean is that it wasn’t the head judge, it would have almost certainly been the head referee.

oh thats my bad ill get that fixed in the main text, I meant to say head referee my last two brain cells are taking the week off apparently

We are, we won that tournament too!

Went to a competition yesterday where robots would randomly get disabled for sometimes up to 30 seconds. Had a couple matches where we and sometimes our partner straight up couldn’t move. This obviously changed the outcome of several matches, and caused a massive delay as teams argued for reruns. Only 1 match got rerun despite several having the problem.

We also got a nice “unidentified error” and “memory permission error” in our first match that we couldn’t fix till after.

In our second match we (I) stripped our 4 bar lift gears somehow (not the first time). But we got them replaced before our next match.

Overall not bad we won design and skills.

If both you and partner are shutdown - likely a tower problem. Usually this could be a bad tower cable, bent pins etc… Things I try to look at is condition of cable, strain relief at tower (so cables not directly tugging at tower connectors) and if tabs on cable are broken off .

Having been at events where there have been tower fails because of bent pins and resorting to manual field control, not fun.

Congrats on Design and showing your robots performance with Robot Skills Challenges!

Yeah we looked at things to no avail, the main problem was the head ref was somewhat inexperienced and didn’t seem to care or try to resolve the issue. Ended up being a pretty good competition all things considered despite not making it past the quarter finals.
