At least at states that was the case.
Does anyone know how scrimmages will be happening. Like does anyone have something planned and just needs teams? And are these fields in the hotel im guessing?
The apparel you can buy at Worlds is completely customizable, but each customization has a fee. That said, you can design some really cool stuff if you don’t mind the cost
What I have done in the past is screen recorded the device showing the match. So let’s say I wanted to record Q 22 in the Technology division, I would navégate over to that division’s specific channel and record my iPhone screen as I watch the match, and crop is afterwards as needed. I do this for every live-streamed tournament I record matches for, because unlike twitch, YouTube and the program used for Worlds, you cannot create “clips” (select portions of the livestream to export) of the individual matches.
I believe some orgs are hosting “invite only” scrims in hotel ballrooms / lobbies… your best bet would probably be to ask around the vex discord or regional groupchats.
I’ve seen a lot of pre-signature event scrimmages where teams are hosted in either of the above locations or at a local school’s lab. We’ve had decent luck with the latter in FRC, so if you want to it’d probably be a good idea to see if there are teams in the area willing to host.
We’re planning to scrim in Hawaii today before we leave for worlds on Sunday. Nothing planned up in worlds as far as practice goes, we’re planning to bring up to a full field for the pit area but due to limitations on checked bags I’m not sure if we’d even be able to, much less set up a field in our hotel.
Since the new game will be coming out before it is revealed for the High School division, my team made the decision to not watch the new game until the reveal at the end of the competition. However, I assume that many other teams will not do this, and watch it before the reveal at the competition. Since this is the first year where this happens, I imagine there is not a set expectation about talking about the new game. What do yall think will be the best way of preventing ourselves from hearing about the new game before it is announced.
Thanks and good luck to everyone participating at worlds, Ill see you all there ![]()
if you’re trying to avoid spoilers, probably wearing earplugs to and from the pit
if you gotta talk to teams I mean it’d probably be like avoiding spoilers for spider man, just say up front: I haven’t watched the reveal yet, don’t spoil me!
Hahaha thanks!
I told my team we should make signs to string around our necks so everyone knows. When I said it I was joking but hearing that I might actually consider it!
Good luck at worlds and thanks again!
Best of luck in your quest, Quixote ![]()
Thanks o7, if anyone else has any other ideas they are welcome.
yup… most, if not all of these late-nights scrimmages are by invite only. Understandably so - since the hotel lobby or conference rooms are limited in space.
Some of my teams were invited to one of these scrimmages back in 2019. The quality of the teams gathering there felt like worlds finals.
Can you forward and rewind in the livestreams (at least have you been able to in the past)?
Forward to the future - nope.
Rewind to the past - yes.
If you rewind, you can forward, as long as you are viewing the present or past. For example, I can rewind 10 min, then forward 5.
I need to know some places to get food. I heard about some shake at a chocolate lounge. What is that?
Sorry, yeah, that’s what I meant.
I probably don’t need to say this, but will anyway. May in Texas is definitely early summer, not late spring - check your favorite weather forecasting source when packing. Mine shows highs in the upper 80’s F (>30C). What we here think of as pleasant weather.
Good observation - but also indoors tend to be climate controlled. Early summer is a good description.
Long ago had a June wedding on New Years eve in San Antonio…
Does Worlds have anything for EP’s like a Q&A session, Dinner, etc?
Not as far as I’m aware.
The REC Foundation Summit is for Event Partners and also includes dinner(s) and various sessions.
