When Is the Push Back Hero Bot Set to Release?

I expected the hero Bot to Release yesterday with the game manual but I cant find it anywhere.

I just started V5, but when I was in IQ I remember it releasing a week after worlds, maybe they brought that to V5.

well I’m assuming that it will release by next Friday but I’m not to sure, I’m gonna build the hero bot before I work on my own robot.

Okay, the hero bot instructions were almost always posted by the beginning of May with the competition stuff. This delay is really off-putting. It’s putting a real dent in our robotics program right now. What’s going on?

Hey Y’all

Our goal was to release them this week.

Unfortunately, we had to make some minor build revisions late in the process to both Hero Bots that have delayed the instruction manual process. These revisions were unfortunately absolutely necessary.

Both Robot Designs are now complete and finalized, and Instruction Manual development is back in progress.

These manuals take a few days each to create, review and publish. We have multiple engineers and interns working on these in order to get them released ASAP.

Apologies for the delay… I know this is something I said we would work to improve on for this year. Hopefully we will be able to release Heroes closer to Game Unveil next year.

Summer Camps, Summer Schools, and other Summer programs that use these robots are not being ignored, I promise.

Thanks for the update on it.

International seasons it can have a huge impact on new teams.
Here in Australia the qualifiers are in mid September, State tournament in October, Nationals in December.

For a new team having it late means a tougher start. Particularly for those teams where robotics is new.

Is there an updated timeline to this since?

Knowing my luck, it’ll be tomorrow lol

Does anyone know an estimated timeline for the release of instructions for the iq herobot? It seems slower than usual, or does it usually take this long?

@bkahl Quick question If the current plan is to do Initial release tommorow can we expect to be able to buy the herobot on the website from tommorow? This year my school is expanding into 2 teams and we are wondering when the herobot will be able to buy.

The Hero Bot is built using the VEX V5 Competition Starter Kit, which is available on the VEX Website here:

Is it not diffrent parts For the new herobot Compared to Axel last season?

No, the Hero Bot is made out of the same kit, every year.

It is honestly one of the hardest parts about designing the Hero Bot. The kit is meant to be entry-level, it doesn’t contain many parts, and the parts that it does contain are not any of the parts that enable some of the more advanced building techniques many teams utilize.

Additionally, we place a constraint on ourselves that parts in the kit cannot be modified in any way in order to construct the Hero Bot.

This is all in an attempt to make building a VEX V5 robot to compete in any give game as accessible as we possibly can.

Full Disclosure:

One of the main reasons for the delay this year was that upon review of the design after Worlds, we found there were parts used in the build that either:

A) Did not come in the Competition Starter Kit

or

B) We used too many compared to the QTY in the kit.

We had to quickly scramble to redesign the robot and completely re-start the instructions process.

As frustrating as this realization was, it brought to light some weaknesses in the way we design and build our hero bots that we are hoping to be able to work around better next year.

It all starts with not allowing the Hero Bot to be built right next to a wall of every single VEX V5 or VEX IQ part ever made.

We live & we learn, too!

On past years there have been releases that will work with the Super Competition Kit as well. Is this on the radar for this year as well?
