Where do you put the inertial

There is no inertial in the photo album, but you can just put it central on the bot and it should be fine.

It can be difficult to center it exactly, and the farther off it is, the worse your results will be. I recommend using multiple if you have them and placing them in opposite sides of the robot and averaging their outputs. For example, my team uses two placed in the center of the chassis pillars on either side.

your inertial doesn’t have to be perfectly centered, you can just get it as close as you can, and it can read an angle. You can literally be like 5in off center and it’ll prob still be fine.

True, this was just something to consider. I’ve found in the past that after driving near a full match, depending on how you calibrate and control odometry, a slightly different inertial sensor placement can result in at least a couple of inches of offset from planned. A couple of inches this year can make a difference of 15 points easily. But yes, as long as it’s close to center, it should be fine. Just keep in mind that you can make it more accurate if it becomes a problem.

I understand. Why are gears used in the build next to the wheels?

He is using those gears to make the drivetrain faster than the normal 200rpm motors, as to be faster than everyone else.

No, there is no gear ratio here I believe. The gears are just to allow for a larger range of motor placements and to ensure that each wheel spins at the same speed in case a wheel loses traction.

Those are cut from the top of the goals from VEX Change up, the game from 2 years ago.

Gears are also often used to allow for better motor placement— especially in Spin Up, the entire front of the robot should be occupied by an intake, meaning the wheels cannot be directly driven by a motor without obstructing the intake.
