That’s a good idea, but there simply aren’t enough masks. I know, at least in my region, masks are sold out everywhere. And I’m assuming that they are in other places as well.
i know someone in South Korea right now and they told me that pretty much everyone is required to wear a mask in public. That’s the same with China where you aren’t allowed even in local markets in small cities without a mask. Of course, it won’t prevent you from getting it but if you have it, it’s much harder to transmit it to someone else so if everyone wore one. no one would be able to transmit the virus easily to anyone else especially with those who don’t show symptoms yet.
As with shortages, I think the government has to regulate the mask market, like japan did.
At 2pm today. Ohio has been banned for travel,school, and other things for 3 weeks. I hope we can still go to worlds. But it depends on the governor.

If any of you guys are sad about not being able to go to states, just do what I do and joke about it! Whenever I’m losing a match beyond hope what do I do? I just mess around and have some fun! Cause some trouble, make some mayhem. When I was against my sister team and our robot stopped working well I just rammed them and made them drop their stacks. We even ended up winning. Good life lesson for you guys
The problem is most people don’t know they’re sick till too late.
Though I haven’t been directly impacted by this unfortunate announcement, my good friend is crushed about working so hard to get to state, just to have it be canceled the day before they’re due to head up. I really want to help, but its not like I have experience in making people feel better, and I’m afraid of making things worse. Any advice?
why is this so serious lol, theres always next time. These kinda things happened to me, and I didnt care. It also gave me more time to tune up my robo for the next competition.
Not to be that person, but some people work so hard for something. To just have it taken away from you in a day is just terrible. People around me were devastated. It doesn’t matter how small something is, if people are upset about it people are upset about it. All we can do is wait for another comp. and that powerlessness just makes things even worse.
I understand that you might not be as dedicated to this program as many of us here, but this ruins the end of a long and hard-fought season for a lot of people. Many teams spend hundreds of hours perfecting their robots, and that time is being thrown away by something out of their control.
I don’t think you really understand what’s happening here. There is no next competition this season for the vast majority (potentially all) teams that were supposed to compete this weekend.

They are legal for VEXIQ. I posted this because my general thoughts are:
- Schools are going to be closed - nobody wants to be nagged about opening up to build robots in the middle of this mess.
- Nobody has access to $2,000 worth of VRC parts or VIQ parts. But for $75 it’s very cool.
- You can buy it, UPS will drop it off. No need to go out in public
- You can build something cool with it (it’s the same grid pattern and gears that you have now).
- To be honest, VRC is draining, I need a break. I look forward to having all of May off.
- Prototyping VRC with VEXIQ, in fact prototypes in VEXIQ are done by some the major FRC teams.
- And at the end if you don’t want to keep them, hand them off to your VEXIQ team, they will love the extra parts.
I understand, it’s just that it came off really inconsiderate as this was what we have been working for all year, and you just dissed it. I totally get someone not having the best day, just try and direct it somewhere else, like here.

Yeah the LA state championships for middle school have been canceled because in the same day they were doing the vex iq state championships, and they banned 250+ people gatherings.
