So… we all know that (despite popular request) the GDC isn’t gonna give us
water game anytime soon. However, no one said we couldn’t design one on our own.
Let’s design a water game!
I invite you all to toss around your ideas and help design a water game.
Or it could be a challenge where you had to try and blind the judges for long enough so you could jump on the field and break everyone’s robots. If you also blinded your opponents you got 20 extra points. During auton you have to blind the judges and then smash the opposing robots with your robot.
Of course with this ruling you wouldn’t be able to wear glasses but eyes are overrated.
Having the field filled with water would be cool but then VEX would have to waterproof their parts. It would be interesting to see how robots adapt to having to move in water. Maybe a diving aspect to make things interesting (like diving to score or for endgame points).
Water-themed game elements would be pretty nice. That way VEX/us wouldn’t have to waterproof anything.
Just a random thought:
If VEX had an underwater robot competition thing that’d be cool.
If you don’t know what that is just google “underwater robot”. Some of them are actually pretty neat!
maybe something where you take non-buoyant objects to the top and place them in containers. These objects could also be flinged to the opponent’s side to hit a target that would dump the objects in the container back into the water. Kinda like a dunk tank.
When tower takeover was first released I kinda thought the towers were full of water because of the shading of the plastic plus the field was pretty far away.
The water game is not a viable idea with the material that Vex robotics supplies. It would require having another type of material and another type of playing field, that is, another type of competition. Anyway, the water game is a stupid idea.
