We are a new team and are confused about what our robot parameters should be. We are thinking of building a Tank Drive, using a 30-hole C-Channel by a 25-hole C-Channel. But we are unsure of our gearing. Do you guys have suggestions?
See the Catalogue of Drive Gearings for pretty much every good gearing. I would also say to use at least four motors on your drive, and to use six if possible. For help with build quality, there are several good resources, such as Designing a Quality Drive and Designing Another Quality Drive.
If those seem a bit too complicated for your team, a good place to start is Creating a Basic Drive. As always, you can use the search bar if you want to find more information.
Good luck with your design this season!
Overall for this years game, in terms of dimensions, it appears that robots with a tall “blocker” seem to perform well, as well as smaller, more agile drivetrains. However, make sure to keep the center of gravity low, to avoid tipping.
Thanks Guys Good luck for you too
